The NetSuite Manufacturing Mobile SuiteApp enables production operators to use mobile scanners to report manufacturing shop floor data. This mobile solution improves performance, scalability, customization support, and streamlines production activities.
You do not need to buy an Advanced Manufacturing license or a WMS license to get access to the scanner solution. Anyone who purchases the NetSuite Manufacturing feature automatically receives Manufacturing Mobile. An assembly and work order license is sufficient to set up the Manufacturing Mobile and SCM Mobile bundles.
You can perform both manufacturing and WMS activities on the same scanner.
To strengthen manufacturing controls, managers can require the assigned employee to swipe their badge to start and end any step in the manufacturing process, such as operating a machine.
This also allows for more precise tracking of who completed each step and how long it took them.
Mobile Shop Floor Functionality
Generally, the NetSuite Manufacturing Mobile shop floor workflow can be categorized into the following independent processes:
- Material staging
- Component consumption
Operators need to report the quantity of components used (consumed) during production. The Select Component screen lists the Bill of Materials (BOM) components.
- Finished good production
Real time builds generate whenever you report production quantity or consumption quantity. Manufacturing Mobile supports default real time build when you create work orders.
- Inventory and financial data updates
The general ledger (GL) and inventory records automatically update if the Real Time Build box is checked and enabled.
You can perform each step independently to separate manufacturing data collection from financial and inventory transaction reporting.
Production managers can review all reported data for accuracy and then validate data using the mobile scanner. They can also review exceptions and build error messages that generate as part of the validation process. They can then use the NetSuite Manufacturing Mobile SuiteApp to correct and validate the data. After the data set passes validation, the production manager can manually trigger an on-demand build.
By the way, Manufacturing Mobile will automatically populate lot and serial numbers when scanning GS1 barcodes, saving businesses that use these unique identifiers valuable time. In addition, Manufacturing Mobile can automatically generate lot numbers through an integration with the Lot Auto Numbering SuiteApp.
