Are you really ready for QuickBooks 2014 R-7??? - I say 'not yet', not unless you are feeling like the little furry guy in this picture !
Intuit released Maintenance Release-7 for the QuickBooks-2014 product line including QuickBooks Enterprise 14, earlier today. They rolled out this release in less than 2 weeks since the 'auto update" release of Maintenance Release-6 which they soon thereafter discovered was 'full of bugs." When you look at the number of problems associated with Maintenance Release-6, then you see that they have only had about 2 or 3 days (at most) per bug to identify the problem, determine the cause, program the corrections, and hopefully 'alpha and beta' test them, with revisionary corrections along the way during testing.
Most of these past 2 weeks I have been rolling back a lot of QuickBooks clients who made the mistake of installing Maintenance Release-6 after it 'auto downloaded' only then to find out that it was causing shut-downs, reporting errors, or even worse interfering with their ability to use SDK based applications (as well as several other know and 'reported' issues). Now Maintenance Release-6 was intended to resolve several problems that remained from the original release of the 2014 products, or which had been the result of earlier maintenance release updates. I can honestly say that I don't know if Maintenance Release-6 fixed any of those errors because I have just been too busy trying to fix the new problems it created.
Some people might tell you that you should go ahead and install this newest Maintenance Release-7 if you are experiencing any of those pre-release-6 problems, or you have been hanging on with your installed Release-6 despite the various problems rather than reverting to Release-5. There is just one problem, if the 'fixes' for Release-6 don't work you are still stuck with them, and if you went back to Release-5 you are now back in a position where you will once again have to uninstall and then reinstall Release-5. I am not ready to tell my 'own clients' to install this new Maintenance Release-7, and in fact I will probably tell them to hold off even after it 'auto downloads' if they have 'auto update' turned on. As such I am not even going to point you to the Intuit link where the release can be 'manually downloaded.
I for one don't want to be, nor want my clients to be, the Guinea Pig, I will wait around for 'the other guy' to find out if it is indeed safe.
