Resolution:
.
1) Update to the latest release for your version of QuickBooks. Several newer releases in newer versions have added improved/expanded transaction checking routines, and have also resolved some repair sub-routines in the Rebuild Utility to deal with these errors.
2) Run the Rebuild Utility. ALWAYS accept the option to back-up your Company Data file prior to rebuilding. If the back-up will not complete, lower the back-up option setting from ‘full verification’ to ‘faster verification’, or ‘faster verification’ to ‘No verification’.
3) Run the Verify Utility. If you are still encountering the error after running the verity proceed to manual repair in step 4.
4) Manual Repair involves removing the ‘associated item(s)’ from the transactions reflected in the QBWin.log file. Perform the steps below:
- Review the QbWin.log file which refers to a specific transaction
- Note of the specific item, quantity, cost or price
- Search for (or Find) within your QuickBooks Data the specific transaction referred to in the QbWin.log
- Delete the item(s) you took note of in Step 2. (Don't delete the entire transaction)
- Save & Close the transaction.
- Run the Verify Utility to insure that the transactions you have manually adjusted have been fixed.
- Return to the transaction and reenter the item and other applicable information you deleted.
- Run the Verify Utility one more time to make certain that there is still no data file damage.
The "professional alternative' is also available from reputable file services, especially if you have hundreds (or thousands) of these. There are several highly qualified repair services, including Intuit Data Services; just remember to 'know' your vendor, get references and get the 'repair price' and any guarantees (like 'if we don't fix it, we don't charge you...' in writing.
Best of luck,
