There is a Brand THING for QBO users which will make creating Invoices much easier – BUNDLES!
.
What are bundles?
If you have used Item Groups in QuickBooks Desktop then you are already familiar with the concept of QuickBooks Online Bundles. Bundles are a collection of products and or services that you “Sell” together.
.
When will you get Bundles for you and your client’s QuickBooks Online?
Currently it is being rolled out to QuickBooks Online users and should be available to everyone soon. So if you don’t have it don’t worry, its coming.
.
So how do you check to see if Bundles has been rolled out to you and your clients?
First, you must be an QuickBooks Online Essentials or Plus user.
Start by going to the QBO Company Gear Icon and selecting Products/Services > choose New and if you list contains Bundles then you already have this feature.

1) When creating Bundles you can Custom Name them so they fit your company’s products and services. For example, if you are ProAdvisor and are creating a Year End Bundle you could name it “Year End Bundle” and include items such as Close Books, Create W-2s, Create 1099s, Tax Prep and Tax Returns.
Note: If these individual services have been priced then the Bundle price will auto generate and/or you can edit the price on the invoice.

2) While creating the Bundle you can choose to either display bundle components or not. Which means when viewing the Invoice you can choose to list the items which make up the bundle or choose to hide the items so the bundles components are for internal calculations only.
One example of a situation I might hide the item components is pricing a monthly on-going engagement in which it might raise questions or confuse the client if you list all the QBO Apps or Hosted Programs. In this case, you might opt to Not display items. Keep in mind at this time you can either show “all” or “none” of the items in the bundle.

More About Bundles!
Coming Soon: When converting QuickBooks Desktop Group Items to QuickBooks Online Bundle Items will soon migrate. Who does this impact? According to a quote Intuit’s Rafal Bolinski made on the QBO Show last week, “more than 50% of QuickBooks Desktop users are using Groups”, so now being able to Bundle in QBO will impact a great quantity of users. QuickBooks Desktop users have already put in the work to create Groups and soon those users who want to convert will not need to recreate their Bundled items for QBO.
.
What are the differences between Groups and Bundles?
- Bundles are for SALES transactions only so you cannot use on purchase transactions
- Price is on the TOP in BOTTOM of invoice
- Report – no report on bundle it is a collection of items - so no assembly
- No Subtotal yet
- No true Discount item – Stacy K wrote a good article for this and it is listed on her blog site
For more information from Intuit’s own Rafal Bolinski, and talk QBO Show Hosts Woody and Stacy here is the link to listen in.
