When Intuit released its R5 update for QuickBooks 2017 desktop products, there was a bug that prevented certain query routines used by some SDK (third party add-on) utilities from accessing QuickBooks data.
In some instances, QuickBooks would even slow down significantly or error out. In other instances, the third-party utility would error out.
A day or two ago, Intuit began pushing out a hotfix to resolve this one problem, what I refer to as a hotfix is called a 'ULIP' by Intuit.
It is an off-cycle update that does not change or update the R (release) number of the product. When reviewing the F2 Product Information window, you'll notice that the Product Number located immediately below the License Number has an R#_## out to the right side of it.
This R#_## is the Release and ULIP number. In the case of this most recent hotfix, the ULIP number is "84," so if you have received the ULIP, you should see R5_84 to the right of the Product Number on the F2 screen.
Third-party product developers that were impacted by the original R5 release are reporting that both QuickBooks and its SDK-based utilities are working normally after the R5_84 ULIP.
With that said, I have observed a number of other "non-related" issues associated with QuickBooks 2017 R5 being reported in various forums, Linked-in groups and QuickBooks related discussion boards.
While the ULIP update supposedly was intended to address the SDK issues, I have no information as to any other problems that might be resolved by this same hotfix.
