Intuit has started rolling out Release 3 for it line up of QuickBooks 2017 products. This roll out includes the following changes, improvements and fixes to QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2017, QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2017 and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 17.0.
Release 3 (R3)
The most significant aspects of this update include:
- Authentication: This primarily deals with the mechanisms by which the product is registered as part of the installation, initial use process.
- Quicken: The release fixes a problem associated with importing Quicken data into QuickBooks.
- Scheduled Reports: This removes the restriction associated with having multiple versions of QuickBooks on the same machine – the restriction at the time of release posed serious issues for QuickBooks ProAdvisors.
- SDK: I haven't had time to research this, but it appears this has to do with resolving complications for some SDK applications when more than one version of QuickBooks was running at either the Database level or in regard to multiple instances within the same version.

To Update or Not to Update – That's always the Question?
If you’ve been having an issue with any of the functions associated with the reported fixes/updates, you may want to install the update from the download center or accept the update when it’s pushed out to you.
On the other hand, if you haven't been having any problems, you may want to wait a while before installing this update to see if other early adopters begin reporting problems.
