Some of our ‘Mac’ readers wrote in that they didn’t think it was fair that I spent so much time detailing the QuickBooks for Desktop (windows) features for 2020 and didn’t give as much detail about QuickBooks for Mac but only published My Summary. So, I am trying to add more details in a few articles to help those readers out with some of the new features that are just now being rolled out.
QuickBooks for Mac 2020 allows you to take photos or scan documents with your iPhone or iPad and add them to any transaction upon which you are working. To use this feature you must be: (1) you must be using the Mojave Mac-OS, (2) your iPhone must be using iOS 12 (or higher), (3) your Mac and iPhone must be on the same WIFI network or must be connected via Bluetooth, (4) you must be signed into iCloud on both your Mac and iPhone, (5) and you must have enabled two-factor identification.
Using the new feature:
From any QuickBooks transaction that allows attachments, click the attachments icon.

Now click on the Plus (+) Button to attach a file.

When the menu appears, you should see your iPhone or iPad as an option available.

Clicking on either ‘Take Photo’ or ‘Scan Documents’ will open the device.

Take a photo, then press the ‘Use Photo’ button.

The photo you took will appear in the attachments window along with the current date. Give the photo a meaningful name, and post any ‘keywords’ you wish to use to help describe the photo to make it easier to search for.

For future reference all such attachments are saved in the Attachment Center found under the Company menu.
