This past February we reported on Intuit's intent to make changes to the QuickBooks Online Accountant ProAdvisor tab including the 'training and certification' page. Some changes coincided with actual changes to the training and certification processes.
Originally Intuit had indicated that these changes would begin March 1, and that they should take 2 or 3 weeks to finalize. Around mid-march most of the changes to the training page were completed as they related to QuickBooks Online including the availability of the new (2018) 'QuickBooks Online Certification' and access to the 'What's New in QuickBooks Online - Recertification' process. Even a new specialty course called 'QuickBooks Self-Employed' was available from the training page.
But there was a problem, none of the QuickBooks Desktop Courses or Examinations were accessible, they simply didn't appear anywhere in the QBO-Accountant portal. Nor was the link to past certifications available.
I was just advised that the team working on these changes pushed the QuickBooks Desktop courses and examinations into the QBO-Accountant ProAdvisor portal earlier today (April 12, 2018). I immediately tried to log-in to my own QBO-A account to check it out and got an error, but 2 minutes later when I logged in again, it worked.
New QBPA Training Portal in QBOA
You can see in the close-up below that the various QuickBooks Desktop courses and examinations are now included (even though this is just a partial list shown).
QBOA QBPA Desktop courses and exams
Unfortunately, not everything is yet finalized on this page. The link to past certification history located near the very bottom of the page is still not active, so at present you don't have the ability to access your past certifications. I also haven't found access for the Advanced Continuing Education record-keeping system used to maintain Advanced QuickBooks Desktop and Online certifications.
While a few things are still inaccessible, the vast majority of what most ProAdvisors need to prepare for, get certified, and maintain their certification are available in the new portal.
I've also been assured that the team doing the updates is hard at work trying to not only get everything finished up, but insure that it all operates properly once it goes live on the QuickBooks Online Accountant ProAdvisor tab.
Like many other changes associated with QBO and QBO-A, I am going to 'guess' that it may take anywhere from a few hours to a day or two for the update to get pushed out to everyone, so just be on the lookout if you have been waiting for these enhancements.
