In preparation for 1099 season, Intuit has issued the R10 update for QuickBooks 2014 desktop software, including Enterprise 14 to fix issues associated with the 1099 Wizard.
If you intend to use QuickBooks for purposes of preparation of 1099's then you will definitely want to install this new update. Still the same you may want to wait as much as a month before doing so in order to any bugs that might be associated with the release to be identified and patched. (I am not saying that there are 'known bugs' in the release, simply reminding you that such bugs do occur from time to time, and that it is many times better to wait than jump right on these releases.)
Release notes on R10 are extremely limited, but you can find the 'manual download' and the limited release data here.
Technical support has indicated that there is also a fix included in this release that deals with how Intuit identifies your QuickBooks file for purposes of connected services such as Merchant Accounts, App Center, etc. Typically these involve the Realm ID and Auth ID displayed in the Product Information window when your Company file is open. Another good reason to potentially wait to insure there are no bugs with the release since the proper functioning of these identifies is critical to such services connecting properly with your data.
