Intuit has started rolling out Release 6 for QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019, QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2019 and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 19.0. The following changes, improvements, and fixes were made. Later releases (ones with higher numbers) include all changes in earlier releases.
This release primarily contains fixes regarding IIF import including related bugs which were either unresolved prior to the last release or detected since the last release.
Duplicate Data Lines
- If you have an IIF import file that have duplicate data lines, the file will now import successfully EXCEPT for the duplicate data lines.
Import for items with hidden parents
- Accounts, customers, class and inventory items with hidden parents will now import successfully.
IIF Import Bug Fixes
- Invoices that have both invoice and credit lines now import successfully
- Deposit transactions with 2 decimal points will now import
- Issues with importing employee names has been resolved
- Format for time in decimal and hours only is now supported
- Field for Doc Reference number for payments and bills has been extended from 11 to 20 characters
So the question always is "should I update to this release now, or wait"? My answer is almost always the same, if you need or use the features affected by the release update then you probably want to go ahead and update (after you make a backup prior to updating), but if you aren't really in need of the update changes/fixes, then I recommend that you wait awhile to see if there might be any complications associated with installation of the release update.
You can manually download and install the update from within your copy of QuickBooks as of today, 'auto updates' will probably roll out in a few days. If you otherwise need to manually download the update you can do so from this official Intuit 'Downloads and Updates' website, if you are unable to access your Intuit account for direct access to your download.
