Even though it has only been about seven (7) weeks since QuickBooks Desktop 2020 was initially released, Intuit has issued Release 3 (R3) for the QuickBooks 2020 Desktop product line. Some of this update is designed to deal with identified 'bugs', and some maintenance features are centered around enhancements or updates to new features not fully implemented at the time of initial release.
The following changes, improvements and fixes were included in this release for QuickBooks Pro 2020, QuickBooks Premier 2020, QuickBooks Accountant 2020 and QuickBooks Enterprise v20.0. Be aware that each new update also includes all the changes from earlier updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, QuickBooks will download the updates for you and prompt you to install it. You can manually download the update from the Official Intuit QuickBooks Downloads and Updates Webpage (product/version specific).
I really like the fact that Intuit has finally decided to include the 'release month' as part of the release information in their release notes.
QB Capital:
- QuickBooks Desktop Payments customers now have access to QuickBooks Capital as a business funding option. For more details about QuickBooks Captial see the official Intuit website.
Payments:
- QuickBooks Desktop payroll users now have easy access to activating payments services
- Easy activation of payments services for existing payroll customers
Payroll On-boarding:
- Employers can now invite employees to self-setup via a secure website. While initially rolled-out only to ‘new’ payroll customers, this feature is now being phased-in for existing payroll users also.
Employee self-setup beings with the employee receiving an email (similar to this one) inviting them to create an Intuit account so they can enter their payroll details and adjust their payroll preferences.

Other updates:
- Updated to comply with new Gmail requirements
- QuickBooks 2020 is now compatible with Microsoft Office 2019
- Automated payment reminders can now be combined into a single email for customers who also use QuickBooks Payments. At the time of release of 2020 QuickBooks Payments customers could not use this feature when multiple invoices were involved as part of the reminder, it is now available, ‘Thanks, Intuit.’
New 'Automated Payment Reminders' lets you set up reminders for customers when their invoices are due (or past due), giving you flexibility for specific customers based upon your own situation(s).

- Send Reminder window will close when pressing the "Esc" key.
- Checks will no longer show "To be printed" after printing if "Enter" key is used instead of mouse pointer.
- Resolved crash when applying credits on the same customer:job.

Should You Update?
If you have been experiencing issues with any of 'the Bugs' reported here, or you have been waiting for the features that are updated or released with this Maintenance Release then you may want to consider going ahead and updating your version of QuickBooks Desktop 2020 (or QuickBooks Enterprise V20) now. Otherwise you may want to wait to make certain that there are no unexpected errors or critical issues reported with this update.
