It has been hardly a month since maintenance release 3 (R3) was released for the QuickBooks 2020 Desktop product line but as sometimes seems the case Intuit has rolled-out another maintenance release over a long holiday weekend, this being Maintenance Release 4 (R4).
The changes, improvements and fixes elaborated below were included in this release for QuickBooks Pro 2020, QuickBooks Premier 2020, QuickBooks Accountant 2020 and QuickBooks Enterprise v20.0. Be aware that each new update also includes all the changes from earlier updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, QuickBooks will download the updates for you and prompt you to install it. You can manually download the update from the Official Intuit QuickBooks Downloads and Updates Webpage (product/version specific).
Apparently this update is designed to deal with identified 'internal issues' rather than any enhancements or updates to new features. In fact the release notes are relatively cryptic:

What's important about Release R4?
- All changes in this release are to internal systems and have no impact on the user experience.
This leaves me (at least) wondering if this release perhaps deals with issues I am aware of that were reported subsequent to the Maintenance Release 3 (R3) update, or if these are other 'internal' issues? Only time and testing will tell, and since I have had neither at the time I write this I really can't advise that I have figured out anything about it.
