Folks - if you thought this article was about 'the new products', sorry - you won't hear anything about 'what features, functions or enhancements' are changing in the QuickBooks Desktop 2022 Product Line within this article... that stuff is still under 'hush hush'. But even though we are restricted about that stuff, we have been cleared to tell you about how you can acquire the new 2022 products...
As much as some 'retail QuickBooks' users will hate to hear this, I think most people who have been around QuickBooks Desktop for very long realize that what's happening this year, was sooner or later going to happen. I am talking about the transition of the QuickBooks Desktop versions of Pro, Premier and Mac to 'Subscription Only' for 2022 and the elimination of one-time purchase (retail versions) of those products.
By transitioning to an 'all subscription' version of these products, which has been happening over the last few years.... the 'Plus' versions allow for better release control and version maintenance, security patch updating, and the newest and best feature functionality. The 'Plus' versions also offer unlimited customer support and data recovery with on-line backup included in the subscription service (this would be a $299 per year service is purchased separately by non-Plus customers). Elimination of the retail versions also means that Intuit will ultimately be supporting the most current product for all their customers rather than multiple years of products, and that they can focus on delivering the subscription based resources to the 'Plus' products and customers for enhanced support and faster service.
While QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Mac 2022 will NOT be available for purchase... QuickBooks Pro, Premier and Mac 2021 (that is the current year, not the 'new' year) one-time license products (which will be supported by Intuit until May of 2024) will remain available for purchase until December 10, 2021, but only through QuickBooks Solution Providers (QSPs) and Intuit Sales Agents.
