Intuit has started rolling-out the Release 15 (R15) Update to the 2018 line-up of QuickBooks Desktop. The changes, improvements and fixes elaborated below were included in this release for QuickBooks Pro 2018, QuickBooks Premier 2018, QuickBooks Accountant 2018 and QuickBooks Enterprise v18.0.
Be aware that each new update also includes all the changes from earlier updates. If you have automatic updates turned on, QuickBooks will download the updates for you and prompt you to install it.
You can manually download the update from the Official Intuit QuickBooks Downloads and Updates Webpage (product/version specific).
Release 15 (R15) - April 2020
The official release notes address the changes, improvements and fixes in this manner:
Intuit Account Login
The Admin User is now required to log-in to their Intuit account when:
- Creating a new company file, or
- Opening an existing file
Note: Intuit has been building a closer relationship between desktop licensing and desktop files over the past couple of years (when a 'Sign-in' feature was first added to the 'My Company' window within each Company). This appears to be a continuation of those efforts to strengthen the licensing conformity and potentially add file protections.
Improve In Product Help
The In-product Help experience now provides faster and smarter search results.
Easy Upgrade Feature
The Easy Upgrade feature now gives users reminder options to upgrade: tomorrow, 7 days later or never.
Bug Fixes
Reportedly fixed an error while emailing a Sales Receipt after processing an E-Check.
Should You Update?
Well, this is always a question. You may want to hold off for a bit to see if any adverse findings are reported, especially in light of the problems I reported earlier this week with many users reporting QuickBooks crashing as a result of the most recent Windows X (Windows 10) update(s). There is absolutely no reason to believe that this QuickBooks release (R15) would have any impact one way or another on that issue, but no reason complicating the matter if you are, or even if you have not started experiencing the problem.
