Leave it to Intuit to roll-out maintenance releases just before a holiday or over a long weekend. Anyway, Intuit has issued the Release 9 (R9) update for the QuickBooks 2018 Product-line. The following changes, improvements, and fixes were made to QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018, QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2018 and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 18.0.Later releases (ones with higher numbers) include all changes in earlier releases.
E-Invoicing
A new reminder prompt has been created within the E-invoicing workflow designed to notify users to send e-invoices after every 7th invoice is created.
Payroll Subscription(s)
Revisions have been made to the payroll subscription purchase procedures making it simpler and faster for users to sign-up for Intuit Payroll subscriptions. And by the way, Intuit payroll subscriptions are on a special 'Black Friday Sale' at up to 40% off the standard pricing, but this sales ends on November 28, 2018.
Payroll Set-up Wizard
There is a new payroll wizard designed to make it faster (up to 40% faster) and easier to set-up payroll including the addition of employees and their various payroll additions/deductions.
The new wizard guides you faster through the payroll set-up process including your first payroll 'tax table' update, set-up of payroll taxes for your company, and set-up of the most common compensation and benefits. It also leads you through individual employee set-up so you can start doing payroll quicker than ever before.
TSheets Integration
This release incorporates a new tighter integration between TSheets and QuickBooks Desktop, this permits you to set-up a TSheets account directly within QuickBooks and then access your TSheets account directly from QuickBooks.
For First Time TSheets customers: While you are in single-user mode, you will be able to select an option to 'Activate TSheets' directly from the Enter Time Icon on the Desktop Home Page, or from the Enter Time menu option within the Employees menu. You will be prompted to 'Try it Free' and may then proceed with sign-up.
For Existing TSheets customers: With the QuickBooks Company file (you want to integrate with your eixsting TSheets account) open in single-user mode you can select an option to 'Activate TSheets' from either the Enter Time Icon on the Desktop Home Page, or from the Enter Time menu option within the Employees menu. At the Sign-in prompt enter your TSheets Administrator Username and password to begin the process integration.
Essentially all of these features are enhanced or new to this version unlike many release updates intended to resolve problems. If you are needing to add functionality, like using payroll for the first time, or using TSheets with QuickBooks for the first time, then you may want to go ahead and install the update. Otherwise you may want to hold-off updating to this release to see if there are any issues that arise out of this maintenance update.
The release is available for 'manual download' from the official Intuit Product Update website. It also can be downloaded via the 'automatic updates' feature within the product and the auto roll-out cycle should be underway within a few days of this publication.
