Intuit made Maintenance Release 9 (R9) for the QuickBooks Desktop Product-line available for manual download on Friday and it will likely start going out under auto-updates over the next few days, so if you have automatic updates turned on, QuickBooks will be prompting you to install the download in the near future.
That means if you don't want to install it, then you need to turn-off auto-updates now. And, if you just can't wait to install it until you get the auto update, then you can manually download the update from the Official Intuit QuickBooks Downloads and Updates Webpage (product/version specific).
Release 9 (R9) - November 2020
The changes, improvements and fixes elaborated below were included in this release for QuickBooks Pro 2020, QuickBooks Premier 2020, QuickBooks Accountant 2020 and QuickBooks Enterprise v20.0. As always, each new update also includes all the changes, enhancements and fixes from any earlier updates.
Show Password (New Feature)
We sometimes get these slip-stream 'new' features in the mid-life of a product cycle, and some of them actually surprise us. This is one of those.
Users can now opt to show their password as it is typed by using a toggle switch. Helps ensure that the file password is typed correctly.
New 'Show' option to right of Password entry field allows you to opt to see the password as you enter it. New option shown in middle view, traditional option (hide) shown in right view.

Should You Update?
This is always a question, but, in this case I went ahead an update one of my systems the minute I found out about the release being available and over the last several hours I haven't experienced any of problems in my 'testing environment'. I will say that I don't use this environment perhaps the way you might use your day-to-day QuickBooks, in that I don't do a lot of 'routine work', rather I put the database to work doing verify and rebuild, and those kinds of things to see if there are issues and to see how it performs with a few sample files.
If you aren't just in a rush to get to any of the few things that are outlined for this release then you may want to hold off for a week to 10 days to see if others chime in with notes that they experience issues and that means you may want to make certain that 'Auto-updates' have been turned-off inside QuickBooks until you are ready to proceed with this update.
If you do proceed with updating to Release 9, let us know if you experience issue by posting comments to this article.
