Intuit has rolled out, in typical Happy Holidays fashion, a new QuickBooks Desktop Product Release Update just in time for the first day of winter.
Be aware, if you have automatic updates turned on, QuickBooks will be prompting you to install the download in the near future. That means if you don't want to install it, you need to turn-off auto-updates now.
Release 12 (R12) – December 2022
The changes, improvements and fixes elaborated below were included in this release for all of the QuickBooks Desktop 2021 Products, including QuickBooks Accountant and QuickBooks Enterprise v21.0.
While there are only a couple of specific updates listed in the release notes, please remember that each new update also includes all the changes, enhancements and fixes from earlier updates.
Web Connector
- Patch support available for Web Connector 3.0 providing better management for request time out scenarios.
SDK Problem Fixes
- Fixed issues with SDK version 15 schema in support of QuickBooks Desktop 2020 along with new tags put in place in both SDK 15 and 16.
Should You Update?
This is always a question, but because of holiday time-off and winter weather I wanted to get this information to you even though supposedly our presses are closed.
This means that I haven't even given the release a test run. Therefore, you are on your own if you go ahead and get in a rush to download and install it.
I don't see anything in these two feature updates that won't wait unless you’ve been having problems with your application not connecting via Web Connector, or you cannot use an application because of SDK integration issues.
But even if you update, you may still be required to wait for your application developer to adjust to the changes to the Web Connector or SDK.
If you aren't in a rush and you decide to hold off while perhaps others chime in if they experience issues, then you may want to make certain that Auto-updates have been turned-off inside QuickBooks until you are ready to proceed with this update.
If you do proceed with updating to Release 12, let us know if you experience issues by posting comments to this article.
