We told you previously that Intuit wasn't going to issue annual updates to QuickBooks Desktop products any longer and that there would be no 2025 Pro/Premier products this fall, nor a v25 release of QuickBooks Enterprise. Instead, Intuit is periodically releasing progressive updates with the latest security patches and some functional enhancements. They will essentially operate in the same way that slipstream updates have operated in the past.
Intuit is rolling out a Release 9 for the 2024 product line-up, including Pro-plus and Premier-plus as well as V24 of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise (all flavors). The majority of these enhancements are for Enterprise Only however there is one enhancement for Pro and Premier Plus.
Some users may already be seeing notification of this update appear when they start QuickBooks, others may not see the update until sometime between now and October 8, 2024.
Zoom-in and Zoom-out functionality for Reports
This feature improves the readability of QuickBooks Desktop Reports by allowing the user to zoom-into report data or zoom-out to a normal view if you are finished reviewing the report in 'zoomed-in mode.' Just hover over any field in a report and a magnifying glass appears, click to zoom-in, click again to zoom-back-out. You can also option to print grid-lines on your reports to further enhance the readability of key reports; while this feature was released earlier in the 2024 products, it wasn't available in all reports until this release. Try these two features out... Select a report, choose print report with grid-lines, preview the report, when you click on data you will be automatically zoomed-into the report, click again and you are zoomed-out to the standard size view. (Great for those of us with 'getting older eyes.')
Link Purchase Orders to Sales Orders in Enterprise Only
This feature enhancement allows you to link Sales Orders with associated Purchase Orders to enable you to streamline and speed-up order fulfillment. From a Sales Order click on the Create Purchase Order icon in the Main ribbon. The first time you do this you will open the 'Link sales order link item to purchase order' window. If you choose to enable this feature a new column will be added to the Sales Order template to show linked purchase order(s) by item. Activation will also turn on a new 'Sales Orders Linked to Purchase Orders' Report.
When you select Enable Linking you will open your preferences to enable this functionality. You can also activate or deactivate this feature from Edit > Preferences > Items & Inventory > Company Preferences> Link sales order line items to purchase orders.

You can now run a new Job Report to see all your estimates and applied prepayments.

If you use the Inventory Category feature in Enterprise, you can now gain better insights into the management of your inventory with reporting at the product category level. While there are additional Inventory related reports that now include, or can be customized to include Inventory Category, there are still plenty of reports commonly used for inventory management that do not.
