Small business owners have voiced concerns about not understanding accounting, therefore they are not understanding QuickBooks. The new QBO Business View Switch is an attempt to help these users better understand their numbers.
Those who either have an accounting background or easily grasp numbers glide through QBO with ease but those who struggle need another way to pick up on what it all means. One of the biggest concerns small business owners face is understanding cash flow.
There are many ways to respond to this feedback. One is more time spent one-on-one with clients breaking down the numbers, another is directing them to the numerous YouTube videos many of our peers have created and another is the new Business View Switch.
What does the QBO Business View Switch do?
As of now it’s a little light on features. (In fact we can't really even show you that anything has as of yet changed in the actual QBO user interface.) From reading up on the roadmap it appears to have a future which will include a terminology change helping small business owners to better understanding their accounting. For example, using the language money-in and money-out.

Summary
Nothing beats human interaction, end of story. But honestly, not everyone is willing to ask for help. There are many people who suffer in silence. These users shouldn’t be ignored. Only time will tell if this attempt to help breakdown the numbers will be beneficial to them.
As the features are flushed out for this new functionality and more small business owners respond we will know if this approach is working. Stay tuned for updates.
