Intuit has issued the Release 3 (R3) update for the QuickBooks 2019 Product-line. This is the first 'post initial release' update to the product made available to the public. Several of the changes in this release are similar to those issued for QuickBooks 2017 and QuickBooks 2018 Desktop products earlier in October.
The following changes, improvements, and fixes were made to QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019, QuickBooks Desktop Premier 2019 and QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 19.0. Later releases (ones with higher numbers) include all changes in earlier releases.
- Accounts Receivable - Some users have experienced issues in which QuickBooks freezes up when they attempt to open an Invoice form (especially if there is history for the invoice or customer). This provides improved stability of invoice forms and prevents freezing of QuickBooks on computers with Microsoft Outlook installed.
- Bank Feeds - improved messaging & fixes for common error scenarios in Bank Feeds. Some users experienced issues with dates not changing when they were edited within the Bank Feed window. This release reportedly fixes issues with Online Bill Payment dates not updating as expected when edited on the fly from within the Bank Feed window.
- Print PDF - some users experienced issues when either creating a PDF from a transaction or printing. This release provides a new Troubleshoot button available to users encountering error messages when PDF/Print issues occur, the button will evoke running of the Print/PDF Repair Tool.
- User Interface - Some users have been confused by messages within QuickBooks. This release provides improved error messaging with clearer instructions when action is required.
- Invoice Status Tracker - support for QuickBooks Email, messaging for Outlook 2010 customers to outline unavailability of Viewed Status due to technical limitations of this Outlook version, and fixes for known bugs and stability improvements.
- Inventory - cycle count allows you to keep a track of the actual inventory at any point in time without having to shut down the warehouse for a few days for a physical inventory count. With cycle count, you can track inventory in a way that will help reduce pilferage and cost while improving accuracy.
- Payments - fixed an issue when void transaction was failing.
- Payroll (Sick/Vacation Pay) - you can now allow your employees to carry over the limited number of unused sick hours from previous year to the current year and decide the limit on the number of unused sick hours that can be carried over by your employees.
- Payroll (other) - Fixed an issue causing employee information to disappear after upgrade to QuickBooks 2019.
- Enterprise Advanced Inventory Pick, Pack, Ship (only) - inventory reports using the terminology "stock" instead of "inventory" are now fixed; when in multi-user, locks should now be released on a Sales Order once the packing list creation is completed; the issue with shipped quantity appearing to be zero in the printed packing slip even when it has value has been resolved; column alignment issues that were causing Notes to overlap with Delivery Date column have been fixed; and a ‘Clear Search’ button is now available within the feature.
- Enterprise Advanced Inventory Pick, Pack, Ship (mobile feature only) for the MC 40 Device - ghost text in PO search screen and item search is no longer truncated.
Many of these are 'fixes' to problems that have either been identified, or which have arisen in connection with other software or 3rd-party-component changes. If you have experienced any of these issues you may wish to update to this newest release version. If you haven't experienced any of these issues you may wish to hold-off to see if there are any issues that arise out of this maintenance update.
The release is available for 'manual download' from the official Intuit Product Update website. It also can be downloaded via the 'automatic updates' feature within the product.
