Memorized Report Error
Example of a QBWin.log message reporting a damaged Memorized Report.
There are two primary reasons for creating a backup of the Memorized Report list:
- If a user needs the ability to access/manage the Memorized Report list that user can intentionally or inadvertently modify or delete memorized reports on the list. The backup will allow you to quickly restore the original memorized report settings if you need to do so.
- There is a known and perpetual technical issue with memorized reports in QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions. Memorized reports will sometimes stop working for no apparent reason. (Like the one shown in the example above.) This backup process will allow you to quickly restore the memorized report.
Perform the following steps to create a backup of your Memorized Reports:
Step 1 - Create a new QuickBooks user called "Report Backup" with Administrative access to the file. Be sure to use a password that only the file Administrator knows.
Step 2 - Login as the "Report Backup" user.
Step 3 - Open the memorized report you want to backup.
Step 4 - Select the View drop down menu and then select "Add [Report Name] to Icon Bar."
Step 5 - Use the Memorized Report name as the title of the Icon Bar shortcut.

From the editor: You can 'fill' the entire Icon Bar of Joe's "Report Backup User" account with every memorized report in order to preserve these reports in case they are inadvertently changed or become corrupted and would need to be deleted from the Memorized Report List. (Murph)
