A few weeks ago Liz told you about the power of AI in QuickBooks Online 'smart features' that looks at Invoices and prompts you when quantities or amounts are 'out of the norm', and then makes suggestions about the typical patterns associated with the item(s) being invoiced. Well recent changes to QuickBooks Online Payroll are following a similar 'smart' pattern.
A new feature recommends a correction whenever an atypical number of hours are entered when running payroll, and AI provides an explanation to go along with the recommended correction, as shown in the example highlighted in the red box below.
New 'Smart' feature in QuickBooks Online Payroll identifies irregular payroll entries and recommends corrections.

In the case above, 44 hours were entered in the regular hours field... no more than 40 hours should have been regular hours and at least 4 of those hours should have been overtime. The new feature identifies potential incorrect time entries, like the one above, so that the time can be properly entered and provides greater assurance that the hours worked by an employee are accurately categorized within the limits of the federal and/or state laws.
Another new feature update regarding QuickBooks Online Payroll has to do with 'work locations'. Prior to this new feature update, anytime a QBO Payroll user needed to make changes to an employee's work location they had to contact the QBO Payroll Support-team to have them make that change. But with this update, QBO Payroll users can make work locations changes inside the product for both new and existing employees.
QBO Payroll now let's users change Employee Work Locations without the Tech Support

Work location (highlighted in the red box above) is available for update within the 'Employment tab' of the Employee record.
QuickBooks heard your requests and made it happen, so now the ability to 'do this yourself' will streamline your payroll operations.
