QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise V24.0 recently saw some enhancements roll-out in the R13 update.
New "System Configuration" Help Menu Item
With this new 'System Configuration' item found within the Desktop Help Menu, users can quickly navigate to Windows system settings. This new item is available in all QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise SKUs once updated to R13 and also in QuickBooks Desktop Accountant 2024 R13.1
In many ways it takes you to a miniature version of the Windows 'Control Panel' to let you make adjustments to features like your firewall, printers, display, antivirus, etc.

Custom Field Filtering
QuickBooks Desktop has had 'custom fields' for a long, long time. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise expanded on the concept of 'custom fields' by allowing users to define the type of custom fields they created from 'fill-in-the-blank', to 'dates' to even 'drop-down lists.' While some reports allowed you to add 'custom fields' to them, they typically lacked the ability to sort or filter by the types of data within those custom fields.
Now for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise v24.0 with the R13 update, users can gain new insights into their business data by filtering custom fields. You can now filter your reports using text or drop-down list options for the related custom report types. You can also filter by dates in date type custom fields, or specific numbers for custom fields set up to contain 'numeric data.' And QBD-Enterprise even handles error routines better when you attempt to filter a custom field by data not consistent with the data type of the custom field.
In the example shown below, the user has added a Custom Field called 'Pulled by' that is a drop-down type custom field with the names of 'pickers' pulling parts. If you select the same custom field as a report filter, you have the option of the various pickers to filter by.

New 'Search Within Reports' Functionality
One of the excellent features of 'Excel' has always been the ability to 'Find' specific data. Unfortunately, the only way to do that within very long and detailed reports generated by QuickBooks Desktop versions was to export the report to Excel in order to use the 'Find' feature.
But now, with the R13 Release for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise v24, users have a new 'Search' feature. Located in the upper right of the Report window is a new "Look for" field with a Blue 'Search' button. Just enter text or numbers in the field, click Search and QuickBooks will take you right to the specific data in the report.

"New" Item Profitability Report
The report shown above allows users to quickly identify profitable and unprofitable items. You will find this report in the Reports menu, Jobs, Time & Mileage, then Item Profitability.
With this new report you can track how your items are selling and compare the quantity sold, cost, sales price and planned vs. actual markup and margin in one view.
That means you can easily identify item sales needing improvements. You can also gain insight into what your item costs have been doing with both 'actual' and 'original cost' pricing information.
