On Aug. 9, 2022, members of the ProAdvisor community began receiving notifications concerning QuickBooks 2023 Desktop and Payroll Pricing Changes. Insightful Accountant published a summary of the Desktop software related changes HERE.
This article summarizes the announced Desktop Payroll changes. We have attempted to post our summary in an order we felt most impacted ProAdvisors.
- Intuit announced that QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll for Accountants will "not" be impacted by price increases within the August 2022 advisory. However, this cost freeze only impacts users who already have QBDEP4A, since Intuit previously announced (May 2, 2022) it would no longer offer the product for new purchase or as a part of ProAdvisor Bundles as of June 1, 2022. Still the same, it is good news for ProAdvisors using it already, especially those who will see an increase in the cost of their ProAdvisor Desktop software bundle(s), "even if the bundle remains the best deal in town at the new price." — Murph.
- All Desktop Payroll subscribers who are on Standard Payroll will be rolled into Enhanced Payroll and begin being charged the new subscription rates for Enhanced Payroll (either the Annual rate or the Monthly Subscription Plan). This change will take place in January 2023 at the regular renewal date. Intuit will notify users of the change prior to the renewal date and request they accept the new terms.
- All Limited (one to three employees) and Unlimited (four-plus employees) Basic or Enhanced Desktop Payroll plans will be moved to the equivalent new subscription plan. This change will take place in January 2023 at the regular renewal date. Intuit will notify users of the change prior to the renewal date and request they accept the new terms.
- All Desktop Payroll with Direct Deposit Fee Plans, but no monthly per-employee fee, will be moved to the new Payroll pricing structure. This change will take place in January 2023 at the regular renewal date. Intuit will notify users of the change prior to the renewal date and request they accept the new terms.
- Existing Desktop Enhanced and Basic Payroll Plans with a monthly per-employee fee will see an increase in their Per Employee Fee to $5 per month/per employee on or after Oct. 1, 2022.
- New Enhanced Payroll will be available on an annual subscription basis, or a monthly subscription basis as of Oct. 1, 2022.
- New Basic Payroll will be available on an annual subscription basis or a monthly subscription basis as of Oct. 1, 2022.
