Now through May of 2022, many of you who have been using Intuit® Online Payroll and Intuit Full Service Payroll will hear more and more about your need to ‘transition’ to QuickBooks Online Payroll. Between now and May, you can continue to run payroll and 1099s for yourself and/or your clients as you do today. But have no doubt, that will come to an end on May 31, 2022, if you have not transitioned before that date.
Starting in June 2022, if you have not transitioned your payroll clients, Intuit will make the transition for you. They will transition all Intuit® Online Payroll and Intuit Full Service Payroll subscriptions to a standalone QuickBooks Online Payroll service. They say that the transition will be seamless, with no work required by you or your clients. In addition, they have indicated that the interface you will use will change to the QuickBooks Online Payroll interface, but all your payroll data will stay safe where it is, including all of your reports, notes, and alerts.
But you also don’t have to wait for a ‘mandatory transition.’ Instead, you have the option to transition voluntarily. Intuit will open an early transition period from November 2021 through May 2022. During this period, you will receive product messaging and emails providing you with details about QuickBooks Online Payroll and the various available options.
For example, QuickBooks Online Accountant Accounting and ProAdvisor users can have QuickBooks Online Payroll ‘Elite’ for free for their firm’s payroll. Intuit’s payroll support will even convert you from Intuit Online Payroll or Intuit Full Service Payroll as part of the transition.
Your payroll clients will be able to select the level of service (Core, Premium, or Elite) you feel best for them. Remember, payroll users that do not take advantage of the voluntary transition period will be transitioned from Intuit Online Payroll or Intuit Full Service Payroll to QuickBooks Online Payroll after May 2022. However, you will still be able to change their service level to Core, Premium, or Elite after that transition.
