Last December, I wrote in one of my articles from "QuickBooks Connect 2022" about a series of QuickBooks Workforce solutions headed your way. Not all of them were implemented at the same time.
For example, while I said there were significant changes for QuickBooks Time, it only recently transitioned into the QuickBooks Workforce app so that time, payroll, leave and various other HR functionalities are merged into a single solution.
Another area I mentioned was an anticipated development in document management related to employees and payroll. This enhancement means employers can keep personnel, payroll and benefits documents organized in one place.
Well, the QuickBooks Human Resource Document Management feature currently is being implemented. For US and Canadian QuickBooks Online users with QuickBooks Online Payroll and QuickBooks Workforce, the document upload feature is already available.
Employers and their accountants can upload documents under an employee’s profile. They can upload, download, move, copy, view, delete and categorize these documents.

But that’s just the beginning. By the end of this August, accountants and employers can share stored documents with employees via QuickBooks Workforce using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to safeguard all sensitive employee information.

Launching about the same time or even sooner is a new automated I-9 Form process. This functionality eliminates much of the manual work employers or accountants do regarding new employees documenting their legal working status.
The new feature will ensure employers have this essential compliance document available from the first day on the job with a seamless experience based within QuickBooks Workforce.

QuickBooks users with QBO Payroll and Workforce will:
- Have new employees complete Section 1 of the I-9 form via QuickBooks Workforce after being invited to join
- Employers will then complete Section 2 of the I-9 form within QuickBooks Online Payroll A finalized employee I-9 form will be stored in the employee’s profile documents
- And that’s still not all the changes to employee record-keeping within QuickBooks Online and QBO Payroll—Intuit has heard the feedback of employers and accountants providing
Payroll and HR services about the need for additional employee information. Intuit has begun to meet those needs by adding two critical pieces of employee information.
Subscribers in the US and Canada now can add the preferred first name to an employee’s profile.

Employers also can include an employee’s emergency contact within their payroll record.

While many of these features were discussed at the December "QuickBooks Connect 2022," they weren’t released in time for the holidays last year, but that’s alright.
As far as I'm concerned, all of these QuickBooks Human Resource improvements are like having Santa show up in July.
