Intuit has just announced the release of Version 18 of QuickBooks Point-of-Sale (Desktop). As part of the news, the product now will work with Microsoft Surface (Pro-4) tablet computers.
There will be a whole lot of QuickBooks Point-of-Sale (Desktop) users who will be extremely happy to know that QBPOS is not a thing of the past. While it has been several years since the release of a new version of QBPOS, Intuit has introduced enhancements to the QBPOS-Desktop platform that includes the ability to use a wireless Microsoft Surface (Pro-4) tablet computer as part of the POS system.
While I will wait on our resident POS expert William English to give you a comprehensive review and his initial impressions of QBPOSDT v18, I felt you needed to know that the new software is currently available, although it doesn't seem to be available for download yet (as of the time I'm writing this).
A lot of merchants have been looking for Point-of-Sale software to run on some type of tablet computer in order to streamline their check-out counters. By using a Microsoft Surface Pro-4 tablet computer, you can eliminate the clutter of a bulky desktop device. It also means a smaller workspace is required.
But one of the biggest advantages of incorporating support for Microsoft Surface Pro-4 tablets into the new QBPOS-v18 software is that it gives merchants and sales associates the ability to move around in their stores more easily and assist customers at their POP decision making.
Using a Microsoft Surface Pro-4 tablet with QBPOS v18 also means you can check inventory quantities from the store floor. Wireless flexibility also allows you to work more easily with inventory when it comes to stock checks as part of an inventory cycle.
This new arrangement enable you to ring up sales while working with the customer on the store floor, and then finalize their checkout back at the counter using their chosen payment method.
