From enhancing the on-boarding experience, consolidating employee data, improving employee engagement, and automating (formerly manual) workflows, QuickBooks Online Payroll is now the hub for managing employee data and providing integrated HR functionality in one place.

Enhanced Employee Profiles means new fields like Preferred Name, Department, Manager, and Emergency Contact inside QuickBooks. Payroll and HR users no longer rely on multiple systems or paper trails to manage employee data.

These new employee profiles transform QuickBooks into a single source of truth for the complete employee record.
Admins and employees will now have the ability to upload profile pictures, enhancing the user experience. Furthermore, these documents can be shared with employees through the Workforce portal/app, a hub that allows employees to access their pay stubs, manage their time, and much more.
These features humanize employee profiles, put a face to a name, and make it easier to keep track of the information you and your employees need to share securely. That makes it easier to manage teams.
One aspect of this is the ability to leverage new fields, such as "Department" and "Managers," as well as profile pictures, to create a Team Directory within QuickBooks.
This organization chart shows the management hierarchy, enabling businesses to understand the organizational layout and identify areas requiring adjustments. They can seamlessly assign managers, visually see the team structure, and share it with their employees.

Soon, QuickBooks Payroll Premium and Elite customers can leverage a new Automated I-9 feature that enables employees and employers to complete Form I-9 during employee on-boarding and verify employment eligibility.
An automated flow allows employers and employees to efficiently and accurately fill out, sign, and store completed Form I-9s and supporting documents in QuickBooks.
In addition to the ability to allocate QuickBooks Payroll time to customers, projects, and classes, some other Payroll Item enhancements will benefit those who manage payroll.
Coming soon, a new Payroll-Item Management Tool will help your clients by providing the ability to manage employee payroll records in one place.
The Payroll-Item Management tool will serve as a single access point and landing page for payroll items, including filtering, sorting, searching, pagination, and more.
Payroll users will easily see and manage all their payroll items in one place, including the ability to make bulk changes for many employees at once.
Another enhancement associated with QuickBooks Online Payroll Items is new Tax Mapping Flexibility.
These enhancements allow QuickBooks Online Payroll administrators to get far more granular when breaking out tax liabilities and expenses.
Soon, a new option in Employer Tax Expenses and Tax Liability Accounts will allow users to break down individual agency groups into their respective tax items.
This will provide a far greater detailed view of a QuickBooks Online subscriber's tax liabilities and expenses.
QBO Payroll has enhanced and expanded its offerings to include advanced payroll cost allocation, bulk pay item management, a HR hub for employee record management, and employee benefits.
Many of the new and features focus on a deeper integration between QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Payroll and QuickBooks Time, to meet the needs of growing businesses through integrated payroll, time tracking, HR, and employee benefits.
