Not long ago, our office began receiving frequent calls when a QuickBooks Point-of-Sale V12 client was trying to open their company file, and nothing happens. These clients report that they are left at the Start Company screen, and clicking next just brings them back to this same window.

Apparently a recent update to Microsoft Windows 10 keeps the Intuit entitlement client from starting automatically. The fix is pretty simple.
.
To correct the problem:
.
1) In the “Ask Me Anything” search bar next to the Start button, type Services.
2) You should see Services listed as a desktop app. Click to open it.
3) Scroll down to Intuit Entitlement Client V8 and select it.
Windows Services Entitlement Client
4) Right click and choose Properties.
5) Click Start up type and select Automatic (Delayed Start).
Entitlement Service Properties
6) Click OK.
7) Click Start, to start the service.
8) Now, launch Point-of-Sale, it should start normally now.
It's an easy fix, but one you might not have thought of, if you hadn't previously heard of this problem.
