Editor's Note: February's editorial focus is on Time-tracking. This is part of a series of articles covering almost 60 apps for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop this month. Stay tuned!
Clockify is a popular free* time tracker and timesheet that integrates with QuickBooks. With Clockify, you can track time on projects and transfer your data to QuickBooks, and you can invite your team to do the same and set up projects and hourly rates. This will speed up your payroll, and make your billing simpler and more accurate.
Everything in Clockify revolves around time entries. You track the time you spend working on things and then analyze workweeks in reports. There are two ways you can create time entries in Clockify—using a timer as you work or adding time manually after you have finished working.
Your time entries will be even more beneficial if you categorize them by adding a project task or tag them for analysis.
The Clockify Dashboard shows you your time, time by projects, the value of your time, and the time and activity of your fellow team members.
You can run all the reports you need to analyze where the time is being used, and what the time is costing on an individual or project basis.
Various upgrades are available from the free Clockify version to a version, which includes additional features like time approvals, GPS tracking, screenshot captures, invoicing, and many others.
To integrate and track time between Clockify and QuickBooks, follow these steps:
- Create a Clockify account by signing up for free.
- Invite your team members to Clockify so they can track time and complete timesheets.
- Go to Settings, choose Integrations, connect to QuickBooks Online and allow Clockify to sync with QuickBooks. Note: The Clockify-QuickBooks Integration is a paid feature option of Clockify. It is not part of the free subscription, you will need to add it, but you can try it during a Clockify Free Trial*
- Sync Users and Customers and Set Rates.
- Complete Timesheets normally in Clockify.
- Send time to QuickBooks (see the green button in the illustration below):
* Remember, while basic time-tracking with Clockify is free, the integration with QuickBooks is not—it requires an optional version you will need to purchase if you intend to sync Clockify time with QBO.
