From time-to-time, Insightful Accountant features the partner programs offered by various software and App developers in our Advisor Alliance articles. We developed Advisor Alliance as a way to make you aware of opportunities that exist with these developers to help you gain more business, improve your business performance as it relates to their product(s), and to essentially earn more money through a working relationship with these developers.
In some cases, these programs offer an expansion of your existing relationship with the foundation (general ledger) software you already know and use, in other cases these program offerings may represent an entirely new opportunity to expand beyond your current comfort level and scope of business and reach out into new markets and expand your practice toward new horizons.
Because I know that many of you are not only familiar with, but already participate in other partner programs, and you almost always respond to articles where I introduce a new partner program with questions about how things compare, I have chosen to simply address some aspects of the offering I am about to discuss in contrast to some of those programs with which you are already familiar.
A couple of weeks ago I gave you my Introduction to NetSuite as part of our expanding coverage of mid to enterprise market products. Now I want to give introduce you to their partner program.
Oracle NetSuite Partner Programs
The NetSuite Solution Provider Program, an offering of Oracle NetSuite, is one of those opportunities for many of our readers to step out of their current ‘small business’ oriented environment and truly embrace a product designed to meet the needs of growing companies expanding from mid-size to enterprise-level businesses. The reality is that there comes a time when QuickBooks simply will not fit the bill for your client, no matter how many ‘plug-ins’ you add-on to it. When that time comes you need to have another offering in your arsenal, and one such offering should be ‘NetSuite.’
If you are an experienced ProAdvisor or member of the QuickBooks Solution Provider network, who has been focused on software sales and delivery and you are ready to transition to the leading Cloud-based accounting/ERP solution, then the NetSuite Solution Provider Program is worth exploring. Not only does it provide you with that ‘other offering’ to meet the needs of your growing clients, but it also offers you an opportunity to make the industry’s leading margins along with unmatched recurring revenues.
Now some of you are probably wondering if this is a ‘free’ program with access to the Cloud-based software like QuickBooks ‘Cloud’ ProAdvisors have available to them and the answer is ‘absolutely not.’ This isn’t even akin to the ‘Desktop’ ProAdvisor program with a relatively low cost and a lot of freebies. Rather, this is much more in line with the QuickBooks Solution Provider program (formerly known as the Intuit Reseller Program) in terms of how it works.
In terms of what it offers, well some examples of the monetary incentives/revenue opportunities a partner can expect to earn by being a part of the NetSuite Solution Provider Program includes:
- New License Revenues of 30%-50%
- Recurring Revenue/Margin on Renewals of 10%-30%
- Services & Support Revenues of 15%
Can you say, WOW! (I think the comparison stops there, folks…)
In addition to these monetary incentives there are lots of other benefits like Sales Support from Dedicate Team Members, On-demand Resource Center, Free Demonstration Accounts, Unlimited Test Drive Accounts, and even Cooperative ‘marketing’ Funds, not to mention the various bells and whistles that come along with ‘branded and co-branded’ marketing materials and other goodies we all love to show off.
Then there are the technical benefits like Certification Training and Partnership Support, Sales and Product Demonstrations (especially for new releases in the pre-release time frame) and plenty of documentation/resources. You can even earn perks beyond your initial new partner benefits just by making new clients and supporting them. For a complete list of benefits see the NetSuite Solution Provider Program Summary in this PDF.

You may be asking how long it takes you to be ‘NetSuite ready’ in terms of specific training and/or certification… well, approximately 90 days of preparation time to become fully versed in the product. During that time, your NetSuite readiness takes the same path and approach as a successful product delivery, with an emphasis on customer productivity and value delivery. If you would like more information specific to the training associated with this offering then give the SuiteLife Training Program Overview (PDF) a look.
By now you are probably wondering what this will cost you, and how much you are going to have to commit to in terms of revenue generation on an annual basis. Those are questions best left between you and the NetSuite Solution Provider Program because the level of commitment is different for every advisor and that’s what it’s really all about.
