Insightful Accountant offers software and app developers the opportunity to have their products featured in a free editorial article titled 'App Aware.' The purpose of these features is to make our readership aware of new, enhanced, or relatively uncommon apps in the Accounting Tech space, especially those that integrate with QuickBooks and Xero.
An App Aware feature isn't intended to serve as an in-depth review of an app or software but rather to identify the essential use, functionality, integration capabilities, and highlights of some of the app's most significant features. We also strive to provide links to the developer's website, pricing, demo (or free trial), sign-up pages, and other appropriate information.
This article gives you a glimpse into the software known as Amalgam.
Amalgam is accounting and finance team productivity software. It enhances teams, making them more efficient by eliminating the time spent with manual record-keeping and data entry. Whether downloading reports directly to workbooks, accessing multiple systems without login, or editing batches of journal entries, Amalgam scales teams to do more.
Amalgam connects your accounting and finance teams with Excel and Google Sheets, along with various other systems. You can then automate your monthly close, build a financial reporting package, or create an accounting schedule.
Amalgam works with QuickBooks Online Self-Employed, QuickBooks Online Simple Start, QuickBooks Online Essentials, QuickBooks Online Plus, QuickBooks Online Advanced, and QuickBooks Online Accountant on an all Intuit regions basis, the United States and Canada, Central & South America, Europe, the Middle East & Africa, the Asia Pacific, and Intuit's Global version for the rest of the world.
Amalgam integrates with 'Xero Early,' Xero 'Growing,' Xero 'Established,' 'Xero HQ,' and 'Xero Cashbook' within the United States.

Amalgam Connects Easily
Amalgam connects to QuickBooks (or Xero, for that matter) in essentially the same two ways. Once you've created your integrations, you'll be able to set up reports in Excel or Google Sheets and manage data in bulk without ever leaving your spreadsheet.
Integrations with your Online Apps are made via this Amalgam interface.
First, through the "Reports" functionality. Amalgam allows you to download various QuickBooks (or Xero) reports directly into Excel or Google Sheets without logging into the accounting system.
The Amalgam tool-kit add-in to Excel (or Google Sheets) opens the reports from your accounting platform (QuickBooks or Xero).
You can review Accounts Payable or Open Invoices, run a Balance Sheet, review your Budget, and so much more. You can also run multiple reports at one time and across different entities simultaneously.

The second method by which Amalgam integrates with QuickBooks (or Xero) is through its 'Resources' functionality which allows you to edit the actual information within your accounting platform. You will be able to review, download, create, edit, upload, or delete accounting transactions like invoices, bank transactions, journal entries, vendor bills, etc.

With Amalgam, you can also add, edit, and delete list items including accounts, customers, vendors, items, and many others all from Excel or Google without ever logging in to your accounting platform.
Because so many of our readers have asked why we don't routinely include price information in our articles, we recently decided to do so. However, Insightful Accountant does not guarantee that the price information shown is the final pricing available, nor the current price. The information reflects prices posted on the developer's website on, or immediately before, the date and time of publication of this article.
Amalgam prices range from $99.00/month for 'solo teams' or 'small businesses', to $199.00/month for mid-sized teams with multiple shared data sources. They also offer 'custom pricing' based on your exact needs from a laundry list of functions and options.
If you want to explore this App further, and we certainly recommend you do so before signing up for any product or plan, head over to the Amalgam website. There you can also sign up for a Demo or Start a Free Trial.
While I was able to find Amalgam listed in the Xero (US) App Store HERE, I wasn't able to locate any web landing page for them at the U.S. QuickBooks App Store. At the time we checked, there were no 'reviews' listed for Amalgam at the Xero store.
