Insightful Accountant offers software and app developers the opportunity to have their products featured in a free editorial article titled 'App Aware.' The purpose of these features is to make our readership aware of new, enhanced, or relatively uncommon apps in the Accounting Tech space.
An App Aware feature isn't intended to serve as an in-depth review of an app or software but rather to identify the essential use, functionality, integration capabilities, and highlights of some of the app's most significant features. We also strive to provide links to the developer's website, pricing, demo (or free trial), sign-up pages, and other appropriate information. This feature is NOT a formal endorsement by Insightful Accountant or the Author.
App Aware: Datisfy for Manufacturing & Wholesale
This App Aware is slightly different than most in that it is going to 'make you aware' of a solution rather than a specific App. Datisfy for Manufacturing and Wholesale is actually a reporting package designed for users of QuickBooks Enterprise (within the U.S. or Canada) who are looking for ways to get around limitations in data visibility when it comes to manufacturing Bill-of-materials within the production and inventory environments.
The package contains four core reports (DatiReady | DatiSight | DatiTrend | Where Used) that extract and present critical Bill of Material manufacturing data in formats designed for production planning and inventory management. The concept is known as "BOM Explosion" and with these reports you can look at more than one assembly or item at a time.
Even though there is a Shortage Report by Item in QuickBooks, that data has no context.
The Datisfy package was developed over a decade of custom QuickBooks reporting work, and is intended to specifically address the most common pain points reported by manufacturing clients. Users typically report 3-4 hours saved weekly in planning time and up to 20% reduction in inventory investment through improved visibility.
Datisfy offers a free three-week trial of the solution so you can really see the benefit to your operations. Once subscribed, customizations are available at no extra charge.
Key 'data features' of the Datisfy Solution:
- Identify which orders you can build and ship today
- Know precisely when to reorder materials
- See current inventory levels PLUS sales/consumption history in one view
- 100% real time - no synchronizing
- View up to five levels deep of sub-assemblies (and more upon request)
- Any Custom Field can be added
Key 'functionality features' of the solution:
- ERP-level detail without the expense of a new ERP
- Significantly faster than the full inventory reports inside QuickBooks
- End user doesn't need a QuickBooks license - save on licensing cost or consumption
- The only additional software you'll need is Datisfy's simple report viewer
How the Datisfy Solution works with QuickBooks Enterprise:
The Datisfy Solution is a package of Crystal Reports and a report viewer that uses the ODBC File DSN in QuickBooks Enterprise to connect directly to the data. It uses complex SQL code to query all the bills of material and item details for sub-assemblies and components.
From there, each report has a different focus
- open sales orders with all components needed for each finished good
- combining on hand quantities with open sales orders and open purchase orders with a forward looking calendar
- inventory levels for all parts plus sales history or consumption in assembly history to provide insight for purchasing and production
This approach ensures that the data is always current with whatever is in QuickBooks.
It also means a lot less work than attempting to build your own reports using the QuickBooks Enterprise 'Custom Reporting Tool' because the queries and layouts are all within the solution's Crystal Reports, you just need the solution and the Crystal Reports viewer to get the data you've been trying to obtain.
