Over the last eight years I have written about mobile sales-route accounting apps a couple of times, and in different ways, but since it has been a few years since I last covered this topic I thought I should refresh the subject with some of the more common apps that are available for QuickBooks users. Here are four that you will find that work with either QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, or both. All of these now run on either iOS, Android or both... none of them run on older legacy hardware as perhaps they once did when I might have written about one or two of them earlier.
Please note that they appear in both the brief narrative descriptions below, and the chart provided in 'alphabetical order', without any ranking or comparative evaluation.
bMobile
bMobile Sales is a mobile invoicing solution that offers integration with QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online. bMobile Sales generates invoices, allows field personnel to deal with pricing issues and maintains inventory by syncing orders with either QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online. Mobile service and field sales professionals can easily create, email and print sales orders, estimates and invoices remotely using their Android phone or tablet. They can then sync that data with QuickBooks for up-to-date information about customers and products. bMobile Sales provides a web-based dashboard details regarding customer sales, inventory and salesperson activity. All dashboard information can be easily exported to Excel for further reporting.
bMobile users can easily process orders with the simple to use invoice interface. QuickBooks data will populate the customer, inventory and pricing fields automatically, increasing efficiency and reducing errors in the field. Users can then accept credit cards as payments, and have the customer electronically sign for their order with the integrated electronic signature capture feature. bMobile even has the ability to handle transactions when no web connection is available once you have signed and update your Android device initially because all relevant data is held on the device until your web connection is restored. Then simply email or print any transaction including receipts, estimates or work orders.

inSitu includes invoicing, estimates and sales order creation, secure mobile payment processing via Stripe or the Authorize.Net gateway and GPS sales route creation and tracking. inSitu Route is a mobile solution for field sales combined with their route accounting app allowing managers to import customer geo-coding from QuickBooks, assign multiple stop routes, and then use route optimization planning to compute the most cost-effective path. ‘Route’ is an optional add on to inSitu Sales which provides mobile invoicing integrated with QuickBooks Online to provide sales personnel with access to real-time information on customers, inventory, pricing, and payment tracking. inSitu is built to run on iPhone or Android.
Invoices can be collected by your reps or drivers digitally using an iPhone or Android, and automatically updated with QBO via two-way sync. When cell service is lost, the inSitu app stores data and syncs once connected to the internet, so you can close the sale even while offline. And inSitu guarantee sales reps are updated on all payments and collections because they will have quick access for customer lookup, with records of past orders, open invoices, and late payments. The inSitu app also collects digital signatures for invoices or other documents and stores them with your transactions for record-keeping purposes, once the proof of delivery has been printed, the signature is backed up to the invoice history.
