With more than 7000 users having downloaded the bMobile Now application from the Google play website, bMobile Route Software, Inc., a software developer near Boise, Idaho, has been hustling to deal with the potential impact of the discontinuation of Intuit’s Sync manager on March 1st. Chris Macaw, the company’s President told me, “almost our entire development team has been working on cranking out an alternative, and we are about to release a Web Connector based solution...” Chris went on to say, “...we have had a Beta-version of the new connector out to some of our loyal customers and have been working with them to ‘work out’ any bugs on almost a moment-by-moment basis.”
bMobile was one of the applications that Intuit listed on their website of impacted products as “Contact Developer”, meaning that Intuit was not aware what steps the developer was taking. I had seen on bMobile’s website where they indicated that a ‘New QB Sync release was coming soon’, and now Insightful Accountant has the information you have been waiting on if you are one of the 7000 bMobile Now users.
Early this past December, in an article titled “Is QuickBooks Web Connector Making a Comeback?” , I predicted that a lot of developers who had relied on Sync Manager would migrate to Web Connector, and bMobile is yet another example of that migration. Some people will say that Web Connector is ‘very old’ technology, to which I answer ‘oldie but goodie’, it is proven and has continued to service a lot of Apps over the past several years when those developers chose NOT to be steered by Intuit into the App Center and Sync Manager.
bMobile plans to release the new QuickBooks Web Connector based solution either February 25th or 26th at the latest, and then to publish a blast to their customers shortly thereafter. According to Mr. Macaw, they "will be staffing with extra technical support personnel between the release date through March 1st (and perhaps even later, if needed) in order to assist current clients with disconnecting from Sync Manager and connecting bMobile Now via the Web Connector." If you are a bMobile user and need assistance in changing to the new sync methodology, contact bMobile at 1-888-900-5667.
By the way, bMobile’s other major product, DSD Route Accounting has never been reliant upon Intuit Sync Manager and will continue to operate normally.
