Insightful Accountant Publisher Gary DeHart caught up with Chaser's Kristina Chapleo at its booth at the recent Xerocon 2022 event in New Orleans. (The following is an edited transcript of their conversation.)
Gary DeHart: I'm Gary DeHart with Insightful Accountant. I am here at the Chaser booth with Krissy [unclear] [00:00:07]. What do you do for Chaser?
Kristina Chapleo: I’m the head of our customer success team. I'm responsible for making sure all of our customers are looked after by our award-winning team. It's my job to make sure we continue winning these awards, and looking after customers and making their life easy.
Gary DeHart: What is Chaser?
Kristina Chapleo: We're an end-to-end accounts receivable solution for businesses. We also work with a lot of accounting firms to help them make their clients’ lives easier, making sure they're getting paid for the work they do.
In addition, we make sure that before they do business with their customers, they're able to go into business with that customer as well. We make sure they're getting paid for the work they do, hopefully on time, so their lives are much easier.
Gary DeHart: Are the accountants using the tool, the product?
Kristina Chapleo: We're really flexible. Businesses can use this directly or the accountant can also manage the credit control services for their client. It's really flexible—they can both manage our services. It depends on the accountant and their relationship with their client.
Gary DeHart: You are in London, so you are remote, right?
Kristina Chapleo: Yes. We have people working all over Europe, the UK and Canada, Australia and even the Philippines.
Gary DeHart: Along with Xero, what other General Ledgers do you work with?
Kristina Chapleo: We partner with QuickBooks, and with a variety of accountancy software packages for people using manual processes.
Gary DeHart: Do you have a program for the accounting professional, like a partner program?
Kristina Chapleo: Yes. We put it up on our hub. Our partner program has preferential rates versus the direct customer, so they can help build incomes and help their customers as well. They can offer more of an advisory service to their customers outside of their normal accountancy work.
Gary DeHart: What's the first step in making the decision as to whether or not I'm going to use Chaser?
Kristina Chapleo: It would be to sit in on a demo with our team. They talk you through how the partner hub works, as well as how the Chaser platform works, all the way from conducting credit checks on new clients to automating the accounts receivable, email process.
You can also have SMS. They're customizable to make sure it looks like there's a human at the end of the line following up with our customers.
Gary DeHart: How much work is it going to be for me as an accountant to onboard?
Kristina Chapleo: When you purchase software, it can be quite time-consuming to set up, so we offer professional services. If you're just finding you or your clients don't have the time to commit, our team can help build the package as you need it—build out all the scheduling, segment your customers into different groups and work with you to help get it setup. Or, you can manage that entirely yourself.
It might be something your clients can do, so it all depends. We really try to make sure we are tailor-made to each business because each has different challenges, different client bases, and they all work in a different way with our accountancy firm.
So it's really up to you how we conduct the setup. There's always someone at the end of the line on our support team that can help and guide you through.
Gary DeHart: Where is that team based?
Kristina Chapleo: They are in London, but we have a range of availability throughout the day.
Gary DeHart: Do they keep US office hours?
Kristina Chapleo: You book an appointment time that suits your schedule.
Gary DeHart: Is there other training involved, for example, if I want to put all my clients on Chaser?
Kristina Chapleo: Yes. We can give you training; we can give your clients training and we can also set up the marketing team to help you market Chaser. This all can help you build revenue as an accountancy firm and get the most out of Chaser.
