Intuit issued a press release this week in which Alex Chriss, Vice President and General Manager, stated "I’m excited to announce that Intuit has acquired Playbook HR, a leading solution for on-demand marketplaces to manage the hiring, on-boarding, and compliance needs of independent contractors."
He further stated that this acquisition helps the company "make it easier for independent contractors to manage their finances and pay their taxes, and we also want to make it possible for on-demand marketplaces to manage their growing rosters of independent contractors and help them stay within the compliance guidelines."
According to the release, since first launching QuickBooks Self Employed in January 2015 Intuit has:
- Helped independent contractors track $300 million in business expenses, helping them save money on their taxes and simplifying their financial lives.
- Announced key partnerships with leading on-demand marketplaces such as Uber, Lyft, TaskRabbit, Fiverr, UpCounsel and HourlyNerd.
- Unveiled an integration with Stripe that allows data to flow securely and seamlessly from an on-demand marketplace into QuickBooks Online Self-Employed.
The Playbook HR acquisition will help the company deliver a robust application, onboarding, and compliance solution for on-demand marketplaces.
