QuickBooks (Desktop) 2017 has expanded upon functional capabilities that can be performed in Multi-user Mode. You no longer have to switch to Single-user Mode to Pay Bills, Print Checks, Create Invoices from Estimates, Create Bills from Purchase Orders and Scan Checks.
In case you don't believe that, we're going to show you how all (but one) of these look in Multi-user mode:
Pay Bills
As they says, "the proof is in the puddin'." So, here is as screenshot of paying Vendor Bills while the Multi-user mode is in use (see the top screen border bar of QuickBooks).

And in case you thought I might be trying to fool you by only getting started in the process, I've completed the first screen of the Pay Bills process for three different vendor bills, still in Multi-user mode, as seen in this screen shot. It really works, folks.

Printing Checks
So, you didn't think this new check printing functionality only applies to Bill Pay checks? I went ahead and closed the second window of Bill Pay that gives you the option of Printing Checks, and opened the Print Checks window from the File > Print Forms menu option.
As you can see, here is the Print Check window and QuickBooks is in Multi-user Mode.

Creating Invoices from Estimates
With QuickBooks in Multi-user mode, I can locate and Estimate, and then click the ribbon bar icon to "Create Invoice." QuickBooks 2017 proceeds normally, just as if I were in Single-user Mode.
Estimates to Invoices figure 1
After telling QuickBooks "OK" to the notification that my estimate has been copied to an invoice, even though I am in Multi-user mode, I can do anything that's appropriate to the new invoice, just as I would have previously done in Single-use mode.

It's great feature functionality that we should have had long ago.
Creating Bills from Purchase Orders
QuickBooks 2017 also allows you to create vendor bills from open purchase orders. Let's say that I have a purchase order that must be received, and the vendor sent the bill with the purchased goods. I can record the receiving and bill all at one time, even in Multi-user mode.
Receiving with Bill from PO in MUM
After locating the PO, I can perform the receiving and bill entry together, still in Multi-user mode.

And when I have finalized the receiving with vendor bill, the vendor bill is created. Yes, I am still in Multi-user mode.

Scanning Checks
I wish I could show you this enhanced functionality, but I don't have an Intuit Merchant Service Scan Check subscription. I have been assured by Intuit that it works in Multi-user mode within QuickBooks 2017 in exactly the same way it worked in Single-user mode, only in all prior versions of QuickBooks in which it was available.
I guess we'll have to take their word for it. If you scan checks into QuickBooks, and you've already downloaded and installed QuickBooks 2017, let us know how this enhancement works for you by posting a comment below.
