Intuit - QuickBooks Point-of-Sale
QuickBooks Point of Sale
Users of QuickBooks Point-of-Sale 2013 are reporting problems with Point-of-Sale opening or connecting after installing Maintenance Release 11. Intuit is indicating that they have not been able to identify any singular cause, and are recommending a variety of steps to troubleshoot connectivity including:
1. Use the Point-of-Sale Connectivity Tool to determine issues that prevent Point-of-Sale from opening by identification of network connectivity issues. You can download the ‘tool’ from this website as well as obtain additional information on its use and potential troubleshooting steps.
2. Troubleshoot firewall configuration files, ports and paths.

3. If your file doesn’t open, attempt to open a test company file to determine if the problem is associated with the QB-POS application or your file. If the test company opens, attempt to restore a recent backup of your company file.
4. Login to company file failed, or connection broken upon opening – If you have not already rebooted your computer, you should do so before attempting further troubleshooting. It the problem persists, you need to insure that two services of the Intuit Entitlement Service vXX and QBPOS Database Manager XX are running by clicking the Windows Start button, typing Services.msc, and then pressing Enter. Look for the version that corresponds to your current Point-of-Sale software. If the services are not running they should be ‘started’. If the services are already running, you may need to perform troubleshooting and repairs steps as outlined in this technical support article.
5. Connection failed when attempting to start Point-of-Sale – Most connection issues can be resolved by rebooting your computer, but if the problem continues you may need to rename the WSActivity File at your client workstation and/or delete the contents of the Entitlement Client Folder. Refer to this technical support article for additional details on those steps.
6. If the above steps do not resolve your problem it may be necessary to Uninstall Point of Sale completely and then reinstall it. Use the procedures outlined in the following technical support article for troubleshooting purposes.
7. If these steps fail, contact QuickBooks Technical Support for additional troubleshooting and problem resolution efforts.
