Insightful Accountant is again pleased to present ‘The Xero Zone’, our 1-hour webinar covering what’s new and enhanced in Xero. Joining me will be Amanda Aguillard, CPA one of the leading authorities on ‘all things Xero’. Amanda has a thriving practice in New Orleans which is centered around Xero, she has served as one of Xero’s American Ambassadors, and been anointed Xero Evangelist of the Year. She also regularly contributes content to both the Xero Blog and Insightful Accountant.
Here is just a small part of what you can look forward to in our upcoming Xero Zone webinar on November 29th at 1pm Eastern time.
Xero HQ enhancements featuring ‘Ask’
When it comes to getting information from your clients it can sometimes be like pulling eye-teeth. That is, until now. Xero has implemented a feature for all practice users that transforms the way to get client information. The feature is called ‘Ask’ and it’s integrated into Xero HQ.
‘Ask’ lets you (1) build simple queries for your client to respond to, (2) add specifics and questions for your client to consider, (3) transmit the query directly to your client within the Xero platform, (4) monitor for your client’s response, and (5) manage your client’s response when received.

One of the really neat things about Ask is the ability to incorporate the specifics as I call them, you can point your client to specific concerns or areas needing attention using sections and tips to insure easy answering on their part.

With Xero HQ ‘Ask’ there will be no more ‘power-tool dentistry’ involved in trying to get answers from your clients, just easy questions with helpful hints and free-flowing back-n-forth dialog that saves the day.
Xero Projects – “it’s like job-costing”
The new Projects feature in Xero helps to keep things in place and keep track of all the related ‘numbers’ as well. Instead of using one spreadsheet after another and trying to tie them together, Projects streamlines your workflow to handle the data without adding complexity.

Projects focus on the financial side of project management allowing you to easily track time and costs, it also integrated with key Xero features including contacts, invoicing, and bills and bank reconciliation. Projects includes support for fixed price and time billing by providing flexible and easy project-based invoicing.

Projects also allows for the creation of project-based budgets and financials, as well as multiple pre-configured reports that give you critical insights into where the project has been, where it is at, and where it is going.
Feature Enhancements like ‘Automated Coding for Bills’
Xero is ‘in the groove’ when it comes to the application of artificial intelligence into their accounting system. They recently introduced account code suggestions for bills that applies ‘machine learning’ concepts based upon the patterns you have established in the past coding of bills.

By the time you have progressed through 150 or more instances of coding specific bills, Xero has developed algorithms that enable it to automatically pre-select the appropriate accounts codes for every bill.
It’s like having a ‘bot’ do all your bill coding work for you, “relief at last.”
Bank Rule(s) for Transfer(s)
This might seem like a little thing to some folks, but it really was a very big thing among Xero users, especially professionals using Xero in their accounting, bookkeeping and consulting practices. Xero now allows you to create a bank rule related to the transfer of funds between different bank accounts.

Once the rule is created, the next time you go to do a bank transfer between the two accounts you have configured in the rule, Xero will match the bank feed and actually code the transactions so that all you have to do is click ‘OK’.
