Editor's Note: February's editorial focus is on Time-tracking. This is part of a series of articles covering almost 60 apps for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop this month. Stay tuned!
Fareclock
Fareclock is employee time attendance software that claims it integrates with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. This app is a cloud-based facial recognition employee time clock that can be used at a fixed business location or mobile location. All account information is stored via the internet and is accessible upon login.
Additionally, Fareclock apps work offline if there is not a connection to the internet, and the information will sync when an internet connection is re-established.
Fareclock offers features that combine the advantages of some cloud-based time-keepers, but also some traditional kiosk-based time-clocks, including:
- Mobile apps for iPhone/iPad, and Android Phones/tablets
- Facial recognition-based app puts an end to "buddy punching" (Employee Pin alternative)
- Geo-rules make certain employees clock in and out where they are supposed to
- Manage employee work schedules using calendar-based shifts, including classes and rules
- Track employees by jobs, job phases, cost codes and cost centers
I found the information about QuickBooks integration with Fareclock confusing and somewhat conflicting. First, when integrating with QuickBooks Online, Fareclock offers two-way employee synchronization and export of employee time to QBO. You will find them listed in the Intuit QBO App store here.
And even though it reports while integrating with QuickBooks Desktop, only employee time information is exported, it is "not" presently listed within the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop App store. I could look past them not being listed, but I could not find any details on the Fareclock website about the technical aspects of integration with either QBO or QBD.
No, I did not try this app. There are too many time-keeping apps (more than 60) to test for this series, but I did find its general information interesting. If you have any interest, I'd recommend you contact Fareclock by heading over to the Fareclock website to pursue this app and seek more information about integration with either version of QuickBooks.
