Editor's Note: February's editorial focus is on Time-tracking. This is part of a series of articles covering almost 60 apps for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop this month. Stay tuned!
Whether your team is in the office or on the go, Minute7 makes time tracking easy from anywhere. With Minute7, your employees and contractors can access their timesheets online from any web browser or mobile device. It's simple:
- Users log in to Minute7 using their email and password
- At the Timesheets tab, they select the correct information like Customer and Job, Service, Class, Date, Time, Description and Billable status
- Once they are done, they add the time entry
Minute7 has many great features, including a timer to clock in and clock out, a mileage calculator, customized reporting, and customized permissions for users. Minute7 also tracks expenses, but that's for another article.
In addition, Minute7 was built with managers and payroll personnel in mind. Its Timesheets app make it incredibly easy to approve time entries from anywhere. Then, your approved time entries can be synced directly into QuickBooks for simple billing and payroll.
In QuickBooks, you can see the data in the Weekly Timesheets section, Payroll and Customer Invoices.
Minute7 provides summaries and detailed reports of all the time your employees and vendors enter. You can quickly run time, payroll costs and job-related reports, and export the raw data to Excel.
Minute7 runs on Amazon Web Services, a leading cloud hosting provider, so your data is fully encrypted under bank-tight security and privacy. In addition, your data is backed-up nightly so it can be fully recovered if anything ever goes wrong.
And because it is hosted via AWS, it has 99.9% up-time and a full-redundancy guarantee.
Minute7 integrates with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. It connects with QuickBooks Online like any other app you might see in the Intuit QuickBooks Online App Store and relies upon OAuth2 technology to make the secure connection between QBO and Minute7.
Initially, you log in using the username and password you usually enter to sign in to view and edit your QuickBooks Online company file. Then, you authorize Intuit to securely share your data with Minute7.
Next, as with most other time-keeping apps, you will go through steps to link how you want Minute7 to work with QBO for customer billing and payroll purposes. For details, see the Minute7-QBO User Guide.
Minute7 uses the QuickBooks Web Connector to integrate with QuickBooks Desktop. Web Connector has been a tool that has been used extensively over the years by many developers to connect cloud-based apps to QuickBooks Desktop. QuickBooks Desktop Administrators must install Web Connector—if it is not already installed.
Once installed, the QuickBooks Company file Administrator must download a special "QWC" file that corresponds to your Minute7 account (you have previously set up), and the QWC file must be installed in Web Connector. The process of configuring the relationship between Minute-7, Web Connector and your QuickBooks Company file is outlined in the Minute7-QuickBooks Desktop User Guide.
I found the steps for Minute7's integration with either QBO or QBD well documented in the guides I mentioned and in other help documents on its website. It was a pleasure to find helpful documentation, especially when they can be printed for use while actively configuring products or troubleshooting.
Minute7 offers what it calls an "Ambassador" program for ProAdvisors, bookkeepers and accountants. This is a partnership arrangement in which their "Ambassadors" can:
- Offer their clients Minute7 that integrates with QuickBooks Online or Desktop
- Have their Professional information listed on the Minute7 website as an Ambassador (reportedly seen by around 11,000 monthly visitors)
- Get a discounted rate for Minute7, which the Ambassador can pass on to their clients.
You can find out more about Minute7, including their Ambassador program, by heading over to its homepage. You an also learn more about their integration with QBO from the Intuit QuickBooks Online App Store Minute7 Landing Page.
In addition, you will find a Minute7 Landing Page listed at the Intuit QuickBooks Desktop App Store, where you can watch a demo.
