Vertex SMB and TaxCloud announced a strategic partnership intended to expand TaxCloud’s geographic area of automated capabilities to include all U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions, while expanding e-commerce platform support for Vertex SMB to more than 80 of the most broadly-used online selling platforms. The partnership allows merchants of all sizes on these platforms to access the combined tools with just a few seconds of effort.
TaxCloud is certified to provide registration, filing, remittance, and audit response in the 24-member automated compliance states included in the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement (SSUTA). Until now, however, TaxCloud merchants were forced to “fend for themselves” to meet their compliance obligations outside of these states – usually involving tremendous manual effort.
“We get calls every day from our merchants asking us simply to file their sales tax returns for them in states where we are not yet certified,” said David Campbell, TaxCloud’s CEO. “Not surprisingly, it is very difficult to accelerate the machinery of federal, state, and local governments to modernize their sales tax regimes, but by partnering with Vertex SMB, we can solve our merchants’ problem immediately.”
“With our market-leading solution in sales and use tax and TaxCloud’s success in serving online retailers, this partnership is mutually beneficial and delivers a high quality solution to the market,” said David Henkin, vice president and general manager at Vertex SMB. “Now merchants that operate across the United States and Canada can benefit from TaxCloud’s easy-to-use service coupled with our no- obligation pay-as-you-go solution for returns filing.”
Vertex SMB, a business division of Vertex Inc., helps automate sales and use tax compliance for small to medium-sized businesses.
Since inception TaxCloud has been designed and feature-curated to ensure ease-of-use and minimal cost for retailers.
