What's the future of QuickBooks Desktop... will there even be a 2025 QuickBooks Desktop version?
What will happen to my existing Desktop subscriptions after September 30, 2024?
Is there anything viable that can replace QBDT-Pro, QBDT-Premier, or QB-Enterprise?
During this special edition of QB Talks being conducted in conjunction with Insightful Accountant's Future Forward Event, Murph will take a look into his crystal ball to give us his answers to the questions posed above.
Perhaps the answers to these questions are not nearly as 'cloudy' after the most recent Intuit financial statements that included 'Forward Looking' advice for shareholders... "The company expects desktop ecosystem revenue to decline approximately 20 percent in the first quarter of fiscal 2025...”.
The statement goes on to say, “The first quarter desktop growth outlook reflects changes the company made to its QuickBooks desktop offerings in early fiscal 2024 to complete the transition to a recurring subscription model, including more frequent product updates...”
I'm not certain how you can speak of a "20% decline" in one sentence and in the next sentence talk about "growth outlook" for the same fiscal quarter. I mean, this is basic accounting... a decline in revenue is negative, whereas growth is supposed to reflect 'a positive.'
Yet perhaps the most revealing factor is found in this statement, “The company expects these changes to lower revenue in the first quarter of fiscal 2025 by approximately $160 million.”
