Sage Intacct not only packed the meeting rooms and exhibit space of the Orlando World Center Marriott during "Sage Transform 2022," but also the schedule with announcements. During the conference, Sage announced new product integrations with Microsoft to continue simplifying workflows for SMBs, and the acquisition of carbon accounting solution Spherics to help SMBs measure and cut its emissions.
Expanded Microsoft Product Integrations
Sage now will offer new product integrations with Microsoft that will continue to simplify workflows for SMBs. For example, customers can take the friction out of day-to-day tasks by submitting and approving specific processes directly through Microsoft Teams rather than in their Sage Intacct or Sage People application, reducing the need to toggle between solutions.
This means customers can simplify and securely approve expenses and review leave requests via a Teams notification.
Sage is committed to providing its customers with simplified workflows through the Teams application. For example, with the Sage Intacct app for Microsoft Teams, users can manage expenses hassle-free, submit expenses on the go, and save time while improving efficiency.

Sage People for Microsoft Teams app users also can simplify workflows regarding scheduling and leave requests, collaborate effortlessly, and keep up to date to improve awareness and team planning.
In addition, making Sage Intacct and Sage Active available on Microsoft Azure will give Microsoft customers access to Sage's cloud financial solutions in an easy-to-use, secure environment. It also allows SMBs to benefit from the flexibility and scalability that Microsoft's Azure cloud provides when choosing Sage products.
Walid Abu-Hadba, Chief Product Officer at Sage, says multi-cloud access to Sage's flagship products is a cornerstone of its strategy. "Meeting customers where they work is key to providing SMBs with new and innovative ways to be more productive. Earlier this year, we expanded our relationship with Microsoft by committing to hosting Sage Intacct and Sage Active on Microsoft Azure."
Now, Abu-Hadba says Microsoft customers can access Sage solutions directly from the Azure Cloud, as well as gain the productivity that Sage Intacct and Sage People app for Teams provides. "We are proud to innovate for our customers and deliver value through partnership—this is just the start."
Spherics Acquisition
Carbon accounting solution Spherics aims to help businesses easily understand and reduce their environmental impact. The acquisition demonstrates Sage's commitment to sustainability and supports SMBs in estimating the carbon footprint generated by its companies so they can take action to cut it.
Amaya Souarez, EVP of Cloud Operations at Sage, says it knows that SMBs care about the impact they have on the environment, pointing out its research shows it wants to work with suppliers and partners that can help them understand and address it.
"The acquisition of Spherics (by Sage) represents an important milestone in our sustainability strategy," Sourarez says. "By combining Spherics' innovative software with Sage's Digital Network, we are connecting businesses with their customer and supplier emissions data, enabling easy and collaborative climate action across value chains which helps to reduce carbon."
Spherics automates calculating emissions by ingesting data from the customers' accounting software and matching transactions to emission factors to estimate their carbon footprint. The software then guides the customers to refine this estimate by submitting further data for a more accurate calculation, supporting SMBs on their journey to net zero.

Spherics also helps SMBs apply carbon emission factors to procurement categories like delivery, electricity and travel to estimate any transaction's carbon footprint. This approach supports customers with spend-based analysis and aligns with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the globally agreed standard for measuring carbon emissions.
George Sandilands, co-founder and CEO of Spherics, says the company's vision and mission align very much with Sage's core values. "We are excited to embark on this new journey to help SMBs knock down barriers to a more sustainable future. Global emissions are still rising fast, and we need immediate and meaningful climate action across the world. Together with Sage, we can help make a global impact on greenhouse gas emissions by supporting SMBs on their journey to net zero."
