I'm ready to geek out on all the new tech and learn from our industry leaders about the future of our industry. A new conference coming into the conference world is AccountingWeb. It is always great to be part of the start-up of something great.
AccountingWeb is having its first AccountingWeb Summit in just a few weeks, May 9-May 12, at the glorious getaway location of Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego.
From automation to the up-and-coming trends in our industry, the event is packed full of amazing speakers and curricula to help you in your journey as an accounting professional.
My favorite part of a conference is creating a schedule. I review the course schedule and highlight all the classes I am interested in taking.
Speakers
There have been a few interviews so you can hear directly from some of the speakers who will attend AccountingWeb and get insights on the courses they will be teaching and why they chose to teach at this conference.
Here is the lineup of the speakers. Check out all those familiar faces.
Class track options
Each day there are three different tracks, so you have various choices to pick from that best fit your focus areas. Class tracks are designed to help attendees stay focused on the core subject matter.
This does not mean you are committed to taking all the suggested classes in the track. Instead, think about tracks as your guide to helping attendees pick courses that align with your mission.
Track One: Tax & Finance
Track one is tax and finance-focused. I'm drooling over a class—and I'm not a tax accountant. This juicy course has both a tax attorney and an IRS commissioner talking about how to resolve back tax debts.
Can you imagine the conversation and maybe a preview of their experience as professionals?
If you want to learn more about the juicy tax class, I picked the link is below and more about the speakers.
How to Resolve Back Tax Debts
Speakers: Eric L. Green, Green & Sklarz LLC, and Darren Guillot, IRS
Learning Objectives:
- Practical guidance direct from senior IRS officials
- Latest state of affairs on this key concern
- Help your most distressed clients
Track Two: Practice Growth Today
The concept of growth can cast a vast net. Some might think of growth as a vehicle for improvements in processes, while others might measure growth by team members. Either way, security concerns are top of mind in today’s world. Creating a secure work environment can mitigate these security risks.
I will be joining Wes Stillman, CTO of Swizznet, to share my migration journey from Google to Microsoft and how SwizzStack by Swizznet has created a phased approach.
"Proactively Position Your Firm’s Work Environment Security Using Microsoft O365"
Speakers: Wes Stillman, CTO, Swizznet, and Liz Scott, Owner, Liz Scott Consulting LLC
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the risks associated with Gmail
- Identify the security features in Microsoft
- Establish an easy phased migration strategy
Track Three: Innovating for the Future
Change in the accounting industry has been propelled into hyper-speed since 2020. Most clients have either migrated or considered migrating to cloud solutions. Cloud accounting isn’t new, nor are the concepts, but the adoption rate has been staggering over the last two years.
Technology is only one component of thinking forward. The economic results of the adoption of the cloud are changing the future of accounting firms and our clients.
One class I will be sure not to miss is selling your brain. As a huge fan and listener of The Soul of Enterprise by Ed Kless and Ron Baker, this class will have forward-thinking ideas.
"Selling Your Brain, NOT Your Time"
Learning Objectives:
- How to alter the language you use when you’re selling yourself to a new client or offering an existing one new services
- Advice from an industry-leading expert
- How to stop selling based just on the hours you log and the services you provide

Cool flipbook
Also, AccountingWeb put together this fabulous flipbook located on their website to give you a preview of the summit with daily highlights and overviews of the keynote speakers attending.
I bid you happy planning and cannot wait to see you all in accounting conference paradise.
