We know that many of you face the Yetis, i.e., challenges, in the Yeti category of Becoming and Remaining Distinctive. As a result, we created the “Living Your Dream” Path track at this year’s conference to provide you with some valuable tools to use in your face-off with this complicated Yeti.
Here’s the scenario: You start with a dream and courageously begin to build it into a business. But for some, the dream can become a bit of a nightmare: you’re working 70 hours a week and your personal life suffers. You feel guilty about the things you are not getting done – at work and at home. You want it ALL – a fulfilling, successful practice, time to enjoy family and friends, and a chance to make the world a better place through your community service - but is that even possible?
In his books, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" and "First Things First," Dr. Stephen Covey encouraged his readers to define their key roles and the values, mission and purpose related to each role. (You can access his free Mission Statement Builder to help you define these for yourself.)
How many roles do you play? Business Owner? Employer? Parent? Spouse? Friend? Advisor? Teacher? Team Member? Community Volunteer? And how can you harmonize your different roles? Is it possible to own a thriving business and have a healthy home life while – dare I say it – making time for an activity you pursue purely for enjoyment?
Along the “Living Your Dream” path at this year's "Scaling New Heights®," you'll discover tried-and-true methods for setting priorities and harnessing the principles of productivity and task management to re-take control of your dream and get it back on track.
"Building a Profitable Firm You Love" is the initial session along our Living the Dream Path.
