QB Talks was late in October so it hardly seems time for the November edition, but we are back to our 2nd Wednesday of the month schedule and November 8 is when it is all happening. Join Liz Scott and myself as we hold our Fireside Chat featuring this quarter's update on QuickBooks Online. The fireside comes just in time because it has turned cold here in Oklahoma with nights near freezing and daytime highs in the 50s.
This free 1-hour webinar will be held at 1pm Eastern on Wednesday November 8, 2017. It will be repeated at 6pm Eastern on Wednesday November 8, 2017.
I always enjoy the opportunity to chat with Liz about some of the newest features and enhancements to QuickBooks Online. Here is some of what we will be looking at:
- QBO Practice Management including recurring projects/tasks
- QBO Projects (used like Jobs in QuickBooks Desktop) this is the foundation upon which job-costing becomes a reality.
- Progress Invoicing - another critical component of job-tracking, especially for construction
- Just added - has Artificial Intelligence already arrived? New feature functions of Bank Reconciliation that will make you think so.
- Bill.com Integration (aka: QuickBooks Online Bill Pay powered by Bill.com) - you can't get more seamless than this integration
- Chronobooks - the perfect companion App to QBO to give you user controlled 'Backup & Restore'
- Multi-Company Discounts - a critical change in 'pricing' that enables large businesses with multiple company files to afford the transition QBO
- Downgrade QBO levels - something that couldn't be done before now.
For the last 6 months Intuit has been tinkering with the 'practice management' related features of QuickBooks Online Accountant. QBOA Practice Management provides workflow management solutions so you will never miss a deadline, and you can access these features from your desktop, phone or tablet because they are built into your QBOA.
As a part of Practice Management, QBO-A now offers recurring client projects in which you can set-up recurring activities related to tasks that need to be performed on a regular schedule.
Speaking of projects, QuickBooks Online now includes Projects that give users the ability to perform better ‘job tracking and costing.’ Three months ago, this feature was only available in QBO Labs, but it has recently been rolled-out into the mainstream with a few changes and related enhancements.
People have been clamoring for progress invoicing/billing for years. They have developed all kinds of 'tricks' to do this by forcing duplicate estimates or changing estimate status, none of which really equated to the way progress invoicing worked in QuickBooks Desktop. The new feature allows you to invoice a % of the overall estimate or invoice all or portions of individual line items. You won't find this new feature in your QBO yet, it's being rolled out sometime in November, so be among the first to see what everyone has been waiting on.
Liz will also give you a glimpse into another new, just being rolled-out feature in QBO that adds some 'artificial intelligence' functionality into your bank reconciliations. Are the 'bots' about to take over the mundane chores of doing monthly bank recs? Liz shows us that they maybe just around the corner. (This paragraph was added to this article on 11/5/2017.)
Bill.com and QuickBooks Online have teamed up to provide an in-product integration that will give users the ability to pay their bills online within QBO. This makes it easy to manage the cash flow, because the incoming and outgoing money is all tracked in one place. Every action takes place inside of QBO, you create the Bill in QBO and pay the Bill in QBO, even though the behind-the-scenes magic occurs via Bill.com.
Chronobooks - finally a reliable user controlled back-up and restore for QuickBooks Online Companies. This is a subscription based App that works great and should give every QB user peace-of-mind that they have a copy of their data that can be restored or downloaded in a format that is meaningful, whenever 'they' want.
If you have clients using QuickBooks Desktop to support multiple company files the new Multi-Company Discounts for QBO Plus maybe just the 'push' they need to migrate to the cloud. This is fabulous new pricing that can make the difference between 'sticking with the desktop' or 'moving to the cloud'.
Are you signed-up for QBO Plus and it's more than you need, now there is a 'working path' to downgrade subscription versions of QBO. No more work-arounds and problems with migrating data out and then reloading it into a new subscription. Liz will take you step-by-step.
