Over the past two or three years, there have been a significant number of change and enhancements made to QuickBooks Enterprise. Many of these involve the core product, while others involve the "modules" that can be added-on, such as Advanced Inventory or Advanced Reporting.
In response, Intuit has issued a new ProAdvisor certification for Enterprise, specifically calling it "QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 2017" certification. (The previous certification offered for Enterprise was QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 2015. There was no 2016 certification.)
Certification Training and Content
Both the Certification (optional) training and supplemental guides consist of six modules:
- Introducing QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 2017
- QuickBooks Enterprise Add-on: Advanced Reporting
- QuickBooks Enterprise Add-on: Advanced Inventory
- QuickBooks Enterprise Add-on: Advanced Pricing
- Working with QuickBooks Enterprise Clients: Identifying, Consulting & Panning Implementations
- Installing & Setting-up QuickBooks Enterprise
The supplemental PDF guides can be downloaded from the available certification page of your ProAdvisor login.
Authors for the certification materials include Laura Madeira, Bonnie Nagayama, Rob Hawkins, Marjorie Adams and Mario Nowogrodzki, With practitioner-writers of this caliber; you know you’re getting the best in content.
Certification Examination
The actual certification examination consists of 60 questions, which are broken out in four exam sections:
Section 1 – Introduction to QuickBooks Enterprise (18 Questions)
Covers the fundamentals of Enterprise, including subscription-model offerings, inventory enhancements, list enhancements and other enhancements only available in the Enterprise product
Section 2 – Add-ons (17 Questions)
Covers enhancements associated with the Advanced Inventory, Advanced Pricing and Advanced Reporting add-on modules for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise
Section 3 – Consulting & Implementation (9 Questions)
Questions cover topics like the types of customers/prospects for QuickBooks Enterprise, successful implementation strategy, implementation plan and extended engagements associated with QBDE.
Section 4 – Installing & Setting-up (16 Questions)
Exam covers areas related to installation preparations, product installation, networking and multi-user set-up, data-file set-up, including upgrading from prior versions of QuickBooks, and specifics related to users and access permission roles in contrast to other desktop products.
About the Exam
As with other QuickBooks ProAdvisor certifications, you’re required to pass all sections of the examination with a minimum score of 80 percent on each section. You have four attempts to pass each section of the examination. If you fail to pass any one section after four attempts, you fail the entire examination.
The examination is best accessed using the Chrome browser. You can stop and save your work at any point and can return to where you previously stopped. But I’d recommend you at least complete the current section and save your results prior to closing your exam session. There is no time limit on the exam, and the sections can be taken in any order.
