"New" QuickBooks ProAdvisor 'Right-for-me' Program

Over the years there have been both 'cheers' and 'clamor' regarding changes in the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program. I'm expecting 'cheers' this year !

People have complained about escalating costs of the Program, while at the same time complaining about the fact that a 'free' (cloud only) program was offered. Others have shouted about the ProAdvisor 'levels' with status earned at least in part via certifications achieved. Some ProAdvisors complained saying "I don't support this product (or that product) yet I am being charged a membership fee that includes the products I don't support." Well, now, as far as that last complaint is concerned, Intuit has heard what ProAdvisors have said and they are amending the Program Structure to permit variable products.

The newly implemented QuickBooks ProAdvisor 'Right-for-Me' Program gives ProAdvisors the option of supporting all, the most common, or just cloud-based clients, and receiving the software right for the clients they support.

ProAdvisor Premium Membership Option

Let's start by looking at the 'top of the line' Program level which is called ProAdvisor Premium. As you can see from the chart below this level provides all the same software and benefits that ProAdvisors have been receiving for the last several years.

If you support Enterprise clients, you want this Premium level membership, the same applies if you support Point-of-Sale, or QuickBooks for Mac, as well as QuickBooks Pro/Premier. At this membership level you are going to get the same software and benefits you have been receiving.

"New" ProAdvisor Deluxe Membership Option

Maybe you are just starting out as a ProAdvisor, or you recognize that your target niche are small businesses that use only Pro or Premier, or perhaps QBO, and that you don't intend to support bigger companies that need QuickBooks Enterprise, or retail shops needing Point-of-sale, and you don't even own an Apple Mac. If this is you then you will appreciate the NEW membership level called 'ProAdvisor Deluxe) that focuses on Pro and Premier by giving your QuickBooks Accountant along with QuickBooks Online.

Even though this membership represents a $200/year savings over the 'Premium'' level, this level of membership still includes certifications and support but only those associated with the products you are using, and receive as part of this new membership level.

"ProAdvisor" (formerly Cloud ProAdvisor) Membership Option

For ProAdvisors who support only clients using QuickBooks Online, the ProAdvisor Program is still 'free'.

Obviously the focus in terms of software, training and support for this membership option is 'the cloud' and QuickBooks Online. And let's face it, you can hardly beat 'free' as a price tag.

Do you know how many ProAdvisors there are in the U.S.? Are there any survey results that indicate how many QB clients they have?

Last we heard, about 100-thousand.

Last I heard, there are about 100-thousand in the US (and Canada), and 130-thousand Worldwide.

ProAdvisor Program

What about a cafeteria option. I support all windows QuickBooks desktop and QBO. I do not support Mac or POS. Still missed it for me.

And now they tell me, AFTER I renewed in July!

Would have loved to know about the Deluxe version prior to my renewal in July. Well, at least I can write off the entire amount for 2015. But for next year, I will insist on the Deluxe tier for renewal now that I know way in advance. Thanks for the info!

Any refunds on current membership period?

Do you know: If you just renewed in, say, June at the Premium level and you want to change to the Deluxe level, will Intuit provide a refund of the pro-rated difference?

You maybe able to change membership status

Intuit has routinely issued credits for the portion of unused memberships when making a change in your membership status (such as adding or subtracting payroll) from your membership. While we can speak specifically as to this most recent program level change, we recommend that you contact 'ProAdvisor' Support to see if you can work our the arrangements.

Change Membership Status

Absolutely not - if a downgrade. Intuit is all about Intuit making more money. I tried to drop from Premier to Deluxe and spoke to 2 diff reps. After 60 days, your're screwed.

Yes, You can change from ProAdvisor Deluxe to Premium or from Premium to Deluxe anytime!

Yes, If you are a current ProAdvisor whose membership is active and falls into any one of these following scenarios, you can contact our ProAdvisor Service & Support Care team (via chat/phone) anytime of the year and request them to help you move (& our care team will work with you and coordinate the amount adjustments accordingly) ……i.e. 1) I would like to move from ProAdvisor Program Premium membership to ProAdvisor Program Deluxe membership or 2) I would like to move from ProAdvisor Program Deluxe membership to ProAdvisor Program Premium membership.

having several certified proadvisors under one company -cost of this?

I would like to have more of my team certified as Proadvisors but think there should be an option for ProAdvisors under the same company....is this a possibility?

ProAdvisor Memberships are 'Individuals' Not Firms

The ProAdvisor Membership was designed to represent an 'individual' person, not a firm. Variances from this have created numerous problems in the eyes of many ProAdvisors. When a ProAdvisor 'certifies', it is the individual who has taken the test and earned the recognition, but in the past some firms who 'paid for the membership' attempted to retain the certification status and simply pass-it-on to someone else in the firm. Similarly some firms purchased many (20, 30, 40 memberships) and set-them up in different zip codes as a marketing ploy. We believe that the ProAdvisor Program is designed for 'one person' to 'one membership' (at that members actual physical location)...Intuit has taken steps to resolve problems of this nature, and our understanding is that these 'plays on the system' of the past will be phased out as present memberships end.

So it is doubtful that there would ever be a 'firm-wide' membership, in my way of thinking.

ProAdvisor Dual Memberships

Murph: I totally agree with the membership being for the individual not the firm. What about a person like myself however? We have a home in Florida and in Virginia. I'd love for my Virginia people to see me in that zip code area as well especially since we can all do our work from any where these days. Could that be worked out?

One or two actual working sites are OK by me

I don't have a problem with someone who has actual physical offices in more than one location and is actually at that office working out of it at times. But there have been instances of people taking out 10, 20, 30 or more ProAdvisor memberships under 1 name, then tying those to different 'mail-box' etc.type fictitious locations, solely for the purpose of pulling local business away from 'local' ProAdvisors. That's my complaint.

I do work in about 8 states on a regular basis, and spend lots of time away from my OKC office, but you don't see me posting a ProAdvisor listing in every state I work in using a $60/year PO Box, Western Union Mail-box or UPS Store address in each of those states.

I've even seen instances of where some people put different people's names on their multiple Find--a-ProAdvisor profiles, thus making it appear that those people had certifications that they did not earn. That just isn't right ! ! !

I can see several members of my Seattle Meetup group

embracing the Deluxe version. Several have mentioned to me as a Reseller that they don't need access to Enterprise or Point of Sale because they don't support those clients. So why should they have to pay for software they will never need. For me, it's business as usual. Thanks Intuit for listening.
